Camden is a fabulous market and one of the main ones in London alongside Portobello, Spitalfields and Borough. It is situated in North London just above Kings Cross and is accessable mainly by tube as the local area is too congested to driv, park or take a bus. It is unlike any other of the markets as it has a slightly "alternative" / "rock/emo" edge to it. There are several levels of tunnels running around Camden Lock, some covered, some inside and a small few outside (and in the rain!). The stalls sell every thing from oriental food to jewellery to home made goods and retro / emo / vintage fare. The prices are reasonably high due to the tourist ... Read the complete review

Camden market is situated in Camden, London and is a world famous market that attracts visitors from all over. Living in London myself I regularly visit Camden and the markets and it is very different to anywhere else in London. There is not just the one market, but many that stretch quite a way. The vibe you get in the area is an alternative, punky, gothic one. Predominantly the markets and area sells alternative clothing, gothic clothing, fetish wear and punk wear. There is however another side to the market up towards the Lock, where crafts and arts can be bought. This market has more of an ethnic vibe, with a quirky, artsy feel. Unfortunately, a year or so ... Read the complete review

I've been working in Camden for a little while now, and as you can imagine, at certain times the lure of the Camden Markets has been too strong to resist. Unfortunately for me, and unfortunately for London (in my opinion, anyway), Camden Markets are beginning to lose some of the unique charm and quirkiness that made them so famous. Camden is actually home to a number of markets, not just the imaginary "Camden Market". The whole of Camden Town does exude a market-type vibe though, largely thanks to the many shops on the Chalk Farm road which sell similar items to those you can buy in the Markets. When you come out of Camden Town tube ... Read the complete review

Camden market is THE shopping place to go in London if you don't want all the high street stuff that everone else has. The place is punk, goth, individual. You have a main market right next to the tube station and further markets futher down the high street, Camden Lock market (by the lock funnily enough) and The Stables Market and indoor market which has your more arty crafty bits and real hardcore punk goth (and fetish!) gear. Also there is a huge amount of independant shops which are worth a look. A lot of the shops and the stalls have similar things, so if you find something you like, look around and don't be afraid to do a bit of bartering. They don't mind and you ... I felt a bit sad when I saw that parts of this famous old market have been seriously damaged by fire as it did bring back memories of Sundays spent wandering around what is actually six markets that stretch down from Camden tube to the canals at the other end of the high street. Camden market is one of those places that remained popular with tourists and locals alike, you would see punks, goths, rockers and mods all parading along through the stalls, more posing than shopping. It was as much about people watching as it was shopping. As far as the shoopping goe it was pretty good for a number of tghings, lots of different clothes from the tacky ... Read the complete review
