Advantages: Great choice

Disadvantages: Fire has affected it for now

I felt a bit sad when I saw that parts of this famous old market have been seriously damaged by fire as it did bring back memories of Sundays spent wandering around what is actually six markets that stretch down from Camden tube to the canals at the other end of the high street.

Camden market is one of those places that remained popular with tourists and locals alike, you would see punks, goths, rockers and mods all parading along through the stalls, more posing than shopping. It was as much about people watching as it was shopping.

As far as the shoopping goe it was pretty good for a number of tghings, lots of different clothes from the tacky tourist memorabilia to leather wear and Dr Marten boots many of which were brightly painted.

Personally I loved to go and hunt around some of the second hand clothes stores for the more unusual objects from which to assemble an outfit, it was also a great place to get hold of costume jewellry and head scarves of all colours.

There was a massive choice of food and cafes to enjoy, I used to love visiting one vegetarian noodle stand in particular which was always goood cheap food, add to that the fact that there was always this constant back drop of music to be enjoyed from shops and stalls and it was a great place to visit on a Sunday in particular.

Easy to get there Camden is in north London on the Northern Line while a number of bus routes stop on the high street as well.

Summary: Great outdoor market in London.
