Advantages: Cheap but good quality cards available
Disadvantages: The secret is out!
Thank goodness for Card Factory!
I find that my local Card Factory store is a terrific addition to the high street. Before Card Factory arrived we only had Clinton's Cards, which I find extremely overpriced and so I avoid, as a rule, and a couple of newsagents selling a limited choice of greetings cards, and those usually looking a bit old, dusty, or faded by being on display in the sun for too long!
I can always find something in this shop and surprisingly it works out cheaper to buy here than at the market where I used to purchase many of my greeting cards.
The shop looks inviting with it's bright displays of cards for all occasions. I must say though that these shops are not usually very large in size and can get crowded.
I have quite a large extended family so have bought eighteenth, twenty-first, eightieth birthday cards, to name but a few, plus pearl anniversary cards ( Even a pearl anniversary card for my husband last year-along with a medal for long service!!!) I've bought Christening cards and many exam congratulations cards (For the clever young things!) Yes, they are all here under one roof.
This shop offers a good supply of cards ranging from comical to contemporary to traditional and it's easy to buy a decent card for under one pound. They have many cards for 59 pence and honestly, they look more expensive. Mostly I seem drawn to the cards selling for 89 pence. This isn't because of the price but these seem to be what I am usually looking for.
I also like browsing in Card Factory for the little extras for birthdays etc. such as cuddly bears, key rings, birthday balloons and banners Congratulation boxed glasses and helium balloons. And of course, don't forget the wrapping paper, as they have a good selection of this, too. A good choice is to be had at much more reasonable prices than Clintons or Hallmark.
I think the only drawback is that many people now have discovered this shop and so an aunt or nephew will often find they get doubles of cards from different family members.
Summary: Works out cheaper than cards bought at the market and usually nicer!
