Advantages: Fast service, as they do not get much repeat business!!!

Disadvantages: Poor after service. Not prepared to say they are wrong. Use subcontractors to fit carpet.

Purchased carpet in June 2005 for my stairs. They were to fit and supply. I paid them cash and then paid the carpet fitter. He cut the carpet out on the street, thus by the time the carpet was fitted it looked dirty. Nevertheless, I was getting married in my house and so was happy to clean it after the wedding. However, the next day when I had a dinner party, most of my family complained that the grippers were digging into their feet and pulling at their tights and socks. I also realised this when I was attacked by the grippers! I phoned Carpet 'Wrong' up and they said the fitter would come back and bang in the nails/ gripper; they did - but the problem still remains. I have asked for a full refund or for them to supply and fit a new carpet. They insist that they just want to come back and bang in the grippers; I insist that they are not fit to. Surely it is obvious that for the type of carpet I purchased the wrong grippers were used - I am no expert but it seems like common sense to me.

They are not prepared to take responsibility for a bad job; they are trying to get out of it. I have cut my foot on this carpet and my two and a half year old was in tears when he cut his heel. No one has apologised. The manger had the cheek to say my son did not walk down the stairs properly.

Take my advice; do not give Carpet 'Wrong' your money.

Summary: Nails sticking out of my carpet - fitted by carpet right!

if you didnt buy such a cheap carpet then the gripper wouldnt come through. gripper is the same stuff doesnt matter about the backing, felt or hessian, you just bought cheap crap and thats what you get

Hi,
The grippers fiited with your carpet are more than likely what they call Medium Pin Grippers (Carpetright dont use any others). If the pins are coming through the carpet then short pin grippers should have been used.(Gripper manufacturers make short medium and long pin)If short pin had been used and they were coming through then the only option would be to bang the pins down(to be fair a bodge)
Hope it helps.Marco247
