Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: Poor service, no compensation
Carpet Right is the place to go if you want cheap carpet and over priced underlay and gripper.
When the carpet fitter arrived he wanted another £20 to fit the underlay and gripper I had purchased although he would have fitted underlay and carpet gripper supplied by carpet right for free. Carpet Right maintain the fitters are self-employed, but are under contract only to fit gripper and underlay supplied by them.
Carpet right maintains that it was 'assumed' that I would fit gripper and underlay, however it was never asked all the time they were taking money of me.
I would advise caution when purchasing anything from carpet right as they seem to have a multitude of get out clauses and it is never their fault.
Summary: Cheap but not good value

- 09/02/06 Hi Apologises about the last item...wrong one oopppss
Carpetright fitters are self employed and the contract for fitting is BETWEEN YOU AND THE FITTER.Therefore the Carpetright contract as stated about the underlay is impossible....you are paying the fitters direct for completing the job, therefore Carpetright technically have no come back should there be a problem(a carpet retailer loophole when fitters are paid direct....have a read of the receipt from Carpet right next to where you sign the fitting fee).So if you ask if there is a difference in fitting costs between a job for just fitting a carpet and one that includes underlay/gripper and carpets then NO there is not its the same cost, you do not get a discount for when a carpet and no accessories are fitted so why should you be charged more for fitting your own accessories?Probably because the carpet fitter you have the contract with is greedy and after some beer money!!!!!!!!!!(i used to work for them but im OK now) |

- 09/02/06 Hi,
The grippers fiited with your carpet are more than likely what they call Medium Pin Grippers (Carpetright dont use any others). If the pins are coming through the carpet then short pin grippers should have been used.(Gripper manufacturers make short medium and long pin)If short pin had been used and they were coming through then the only option would be to bang the pins down(to be fair a bodge)
Hope it helps.Marco247 |
