Advantages: Cheap

Disadvantages: Unhelpful, rude & greedy

We chose carpet right based solely on price. The team at the Sevenoaks branch were desperately trying to sell every carpet accessory known to mankind. Clearly this is where they make their money.

We paid a 25% deposit to secure the carpet - no problem. Then they took full payment weeks in advance of the carpets being fitted, once the measure had been completed. This seemed strange, when I compared notes with my colleagues I was advised that they had normally paid 10% holding deposit and the balance on the day of fitting or a few days earlier - not weeks ahead !!! It is the only time I have fully paid for a tangible item weeks ahead of receiving the goods.

We paid extra for their fitters to move and replace furniture, however they arrived ill prepared and unable to perform this task.

Still awaiting refund for works not carried out.

The lesson learnt - pay peanuts, get monkeys.

Summary: Poor, greedy and unhelpful

personally i think you should move your own furniture to ensure no damage is done to the furniture or the decor of the house. it is also laziness on your behalf unless you are incapacitated in some way, in which case i would expect to pay more for this service which i am sure price lists are available on request.

i would personally pay the minimum deposit required to order goods untill they come into stock and pay the balance when i have agreed a fitting date and then pay the installation team for their services once i have inspected their works.

The reason that you pay the 100% is that the carpet is tailored to your precise measurements and so if you payed a small deposit, you as the customer might turn round when it is about to be fitted and say i am not paying the rest. The company would then have a piece of carpet that was potentially useless. This costs the company time, money and effort that they could use in making the customer experience better. I suggest you get some common sense and some qualifications in business before you start to make wrong assumptions about a company. Business is Business!

To a certain extent the shop cannot be blamed for clients' mistakes, and I personally would never agree to paying 100 per cent before the carpet was laid, because to me, the job isn't finished until that is done. I think it might have been helpful to wait for the eventual conclusion here, and may still be if you could update your review when it happens, because then you will have the whole story for consumers which will help them make wise decisions.
