Not the best! (Carpet Right)

Carpet right had one of their huge sales on a few months back so off me and the good lady wife went to see if we could find a cheap but decent carpet for the little ones room because his carpet he has just now is a bit worn and nearly four years old (older than he is)! On entering the store we were greeted by a young chap who seemed very pleasant and helpful but we declined his help for the moment and went off to browse for a bit.

We saw a carpet we liked but were informed that it was out of stock and what was on display had already been ordered by someone, ok we said fair enough and carried on looking. We came across an off cut, which for anyone who doesn't know is a piece of carpet that has been left on the end of a roll and is sold in the size it is for a discount price.

The end of roll off cut was two inches longer and four inches wider than we needed so it could be cut to size, Perfect or so we thought. The end of roll carpet we had chosen was costing us £121 which was about £50 cheaper than anything we had looked at so when we were offered fitting for the rather inflated price of £35 for a square room we just thought oh why not get it done and that is that.

The next day the rather expensive carpet right fitters were there (half an hour late) to fit our carpet. The guy commented that it was him that had fitted the carpet that the off cut we were getting came from and that it was very good quality. Great we thought and he set about measuring the room and came up with the same measurements I had and agreed that this carpet was almost made to measure.

Once he rolled the carpet out though it was obvious that it was too short in length and after admitting that it was his off cut he then had to admit that he had measured it and marked it up wrong and it was in face no use to us after all. So that was us back to square one and the sale had ended the day after we had ordered our carpet so anything we wanted now from carpet right would be at full price and they did not seem too interested in helping us even though our situation was down to their employees.

Needless to say it was off to another carpet firm (General George) for our carpet which we got at a good price and was fitted successfully the next day for the much cheaper price of £22. So if you have a General George carpet store near you choose them over carpet right (well I would anyway)!!

Summary: There are so many carpet firms to choose from and so many better than carpet right.
