Absolutely appalling service, one if not THE WORST I ever received in my entire shopping life.
I went into the Carpet Right Brixton branch in london because of its convenient location (it is close to where i live) and I must admit it was a HUGE mistake not having done my home work before hand.
Well, the cut a long story short I bought £1000 worth of carpet and ALL the bits and pieces needed, as explained and sold to me by the sales assistant. I paid immediately with my credit card and walked away after been informed that the carpet would have been received in about ten days.
After 17 days nobody had called me yet so I gave the store a ring to find out what was happening: well, the carpet had indeed been received by them but obviously nobody cared to let me know until I called...!
So, already wondering at the bad service I was receiving, however I fixed a day for the fitting (by the way, £101 to pay to the fitters on top of what already paid...).
I was told they were supposed to be arriving at my place between 1pm and 6pm.
Got a day off work and started waiting.
Meanwhile, the night before I had to sleep on my coach because I had to remove all furnishing from the three bedrooms where the carpet should have been fitted and stick everything in my lounge, including my big bed frame.
It all looked like a removal nightmare scene...
Eventually, the fitters turned up at 6.45pm, but only to find out that the sales assistant "forgot" to include some essential bits in my invoice and that without those bits they COULD NOT CARRY OUT THE JOB so they left!
I was stunned!
After another "hard" night sleeping on my couch,
I called up the Brixton store first thing in the morning (by the way, their opening time is supposed to be 9.30am: I had no reply to my calls until 10.30...) to complain about what happened, but their incompetence and inefficiency showed up once again when the manager of the store replied to me (perhaps not really realizing the gravity of the situation and the fact that I had already lost two days of work to chase what I had already paid for!) that he could not really do much about it and that he was already missing other customers calls because I was keeping him on the phone...UNBELIEVABLE!
I thought I could have then had more luck and perhaps some more "proper" assistance and help in resolving the situation if calling the Head Office, but eventually even their "higher" Customer Service were just saying that I had to wait for the manager of the store to get back to me and try, IN HIS OWN TIME, to solve the "mess" THEY HAD PUT ME IN!
So it is now the third day that I am in this situation and guess what: no calls from the brixton store.
Well, it is now time for me to file a dispute through my credit card company and get my money back.
Unfortunately nobody is going to relieve me from the stress and frustration I had to go through in the last 72 hours but that is obviously another story of which Carpet right does not care at all.
