been reading articles on here since 2010.i ordered a phone from carphone warehouse just over a week ago.havn't heard a thing..went into my bank accounts and paypal and i'm sure i went through on a debit card.nothing has been taken out even though the order went through.which means as i'm reading on here NOT IN STOCK OR NOT GOING TO SEND AS NOT GETTING THE STOCK.so won't even try using them again....thanks to the reviews on here.reviews 2010 and its now feb 2014 and still bad...thanks everyone...reviews do help.and can shame a company... shame the bosses don't read this and put it correct.
I wanted to top up my orange pay as u go sim and the guy in the shop refused to give me a top up.He told me I would need to call orange first and they would have to give me a voucher number and then I could buy a top up, or I would need a swipe card!I always buy my top up on the till in tescos, without any of the stuff he wanted.I just say how much I want to top up and they print it!Yet, a telephone store is obviously unable to do it!Additionally he was looking at me with a disgusted face and approached me with "Eh?".I will not buy anything anymore in this shop. This experience was in the Carphone Warehouse in Newmarket/Suffolk.
I ordered an iPhone 4 online yesterday morning to be delivered to my work address. I later received an email saying it could only be delivered to be billing address. I called them and was told that I would only be able to get my money back after 14 days if I cancelled the order. I argued for over half an hour and they finally agreed to deliver it to my work address. I then got an email confirming despatch but it contained a wrong DHL tracking number (which related to an order delivered a year ago). I spent more time on the phone with Carphone Warehouse but they could not find the correct tracking number. The iPhone was delivered today and I spent a couple of hours trying to connect to Internet and make calls before realising that Carphone Warehouse had sent me an iPad sim card with my iPhone. I expect I will have to go get the correct sim card from the store to avoid any more mistakes or delay. I ordered the iPhone through Carphone Warehouse to have the convenience of a delivery at my work address. However, this order has been rife with mistakes. In addition, I have incurred almost £10 in calltime charges speaking to Carphone Warehouse to rectify their mistakes. I do not know how the store staff will be but I would certainly advise against ordering online from Carphone Warehouse.
The workers working in "carphone warehouse", firstly Theyre working in a "carphone warehouse", their attitude & professionalism is sooo bad, you'd think they're doing YOU a favor..secondly if they can't convince you to buy or stuck with what they ordered for you- they'll ball like a child & give you an attitude. Secondly their customer service people are plain rude- they'll jus yell at you- I can't help!, the store people were like that's just how they operate, you just have to know how to talk to them. Oh so "rudeness" to your customers is their official mantra I guess. Never ever goto carphone warehouse- jus deal with companies directly..they are plain useless, at this day & age, I don't even know why they exist.
CPW is just the middle man who proceeds the contracts through networks. They just give you the best priceplan and offer the best network for you, but after signing the contract you get the service from mobile provider which means, all the terms and conditions are from the network not made up by carphone warehouse. People should finally realise it!!!
We took a contract out, two years, with Carphone Warehouse on an X10 Mini pro by Sony Ericsson. Within two days this phone had to be replaced albeit by a rather miserable and sarcastic staff member at the local store (she wouldn't beleive the phone kept freezing so we had to make repeated trips to the store until she believed us!). This phone decided that it didn't want to play ball by holding a charge so was sent off to be 'repaired' (a term I will use loosely). This phone STILL didn't want to play ball and Carphone Warehouse were not prepared to send off the charger to see if this was at fault so we contacted Sony Ericsson direct and changed the charger. This phone still didn't want to play ball so we were sent a replacement handset. (Please bear in mind that we have travelled to the store sooooooooooooooooo many times to sort this bloody phone out to no avail.) Guess what, this phone won't even charge properly!!!! I contacted customer services and was told it would have to go back YET AGAIN! We were told we ony had to have 3 replacement phones before we were entitled to get a different make and model, now I have been told we have to have 5 repairs!! Nice to know they can change things when they feel like it!. I am now stuck with a crappy phone that doesn't work and the prospect of another crapy replacement phone so we can go through this whole palava again!! Carphone Warehouse - bunch of useless tossers!! DON'T BOTHER!!!
sorry to hear you have had a bad experience!! Tho i must point out that the Carphone warehouse are interested in making money as they are a business otherwise not much point in them being there. secondly They have a process now in-place that texts customers asking a response to the level of service they recived and in my store we consistently score 88/100 with is classed as excellent. this focuses on customer service as its monitored and with those who score low being investigated. In regards to the handset. Yes believe it or not all phones do need software updates and can be done via the update software in the box. as frustrating for you it is also for us. as you will understand when a phone is released it has undergone testing but not as much as a few million customers so when the manufacturer get feedback of faults and bugs the release a software update. all phones have the pc suite software in the box and if it is not u can DL it from the websites. Also to add any type of liquid ingress such as steam, rain , dropping it and a wet path ect can contribute to the handset becoming water damaged. people assume water damage means soaking wet. well as soon as a water droplet or particle connects to circuit tracks on the pcb's this connects them and the electrical current burns and blows the boards. unfortunately this is not covered under warranty. so although i can see you are frustrated but Carphone warehouse have the biggest repair centre and have retail respect from others such as o2, 3 , phones 4 u as they all send customer to us for a repair as we have the faster turn around times and have the biggest repair centre for phones in Europe. i also would like to apologies on behalf of Carphone warehouse for the poor treatment u received from your local store and they should not be acting in that manner . u can fill out an online complaint form but this may be too late depending on when it happens. regards anon
Carphone warhouse is a mobile phone retailer they have stores on the high street and online, they are the largest independent mobile phone retailer in Europe and i honestly am shocked this company is still running. My phone broke and i desperately needed a new one well desperately wanted a new one ( im one of them annoying people that spends half of there life's talking on the phone and the other half listening to music on it) and carphone warhouse has a store located close to me so i went along to the store, first of the cue was massive but not with people buying phones it was people trying to return there phone, that should have been enough to scare me off but like i said i desperately wanted a phone. I ended up buying a Sony Ericsson W850i, the phone appealed to me because i tend to listen to alot of music on my phone and i had heard good reviews about it, i paid for the phone, the phone was set up for me and i left a very happy bunny. A week later my phone broke, i took it to the store and man was not helpful he was more concerned with asking me if i had a boyfriend ( very professional i know) i asked to speak to another member of staff and the man said my phone needed a software update but it would wipe all the contents of my phone, i did complain that a week old phone should not need a software update however i let them do the update ( i didn't have much choice the idea of leaving there with a broken phone did not appeal to me) My phone was fine for a few weeks and then it broke again, i took it back demanded a refund and was informed after 30 days they do not take phones back ( i believe the man who did the update for me knew full well the phone would continue to break but they don't like giving refunds of course i cant prove these claims!) They fixed the phone for me again but i had constant problems with the phone, surprisingly putting them problems aside i really did like the phone. Finally after a year the phone died on me, i would press the answer button on my phone and my phone would go in to my contacts and call who ever it liked, when someone i wasn't to keen on talking to would ring me i would press the clear button but the phone would answer the call (alot of phone calls were answered with "OH F**K them couple of days) basically the software was completely messed up. Thankfully my brother is a pro with phones so he managed to back the phone contents up for me, i took the phone to carphone warhouse ( i had a 3 year insurance and it had only been a year) they sent the phone off to be fixed and when i returned to collect the phone they basically told me the phone inside was fried by using my phone in the rain which is rather surprising as i tend to avoid the rain but il be sure to buy my next phone an umbrella. After a lot of shouting i left the store. My sister has had the same problem with this company and so have a few of my friends, all they care about is making money they have no customer service skills at all which i think is mainly down to the fact they have young people working there with such bad attitude problems they tend to be very rude ( i wouldn't advise being rude back they will call security on you) and act as if you are wasting there time which is shocking considering if they didn't sell broken phones they wouldn't have this problem. As i said previously i am shocked this store is still open and im seriously surprised they get away with treating people like they do..i strongly advise you avoid this store.
I am thick when it comes to mobiles, I can never understand them, work them, and just hate them. When I enter a mobile store it is with dread and fear. The staff (all except one) in this branch are useless, they talk to you at such a speed and in language you do not understand, they never have phones in stock to try to see if you can work them first b4 you buy. They assume that you are like a 25 year old who should know all about phones, and what they are talking about. The end result is I leave with my 3 mobiles in my pocket none of which I can work or understand. But! They have ONE member of staff called Steven T who is GREAT, he spends time with you, nothing is too much trouble, and he talks in a language you understand and is a joy to deal with. If I go to top up my phones now, I only enter if I can see Steven is in. To the mobile companies set up a section, or store for your older customers, with staff who speak English and can explain slowly and demonstrate phones to you. I want a phone that rings when I am called, so I can answer it, a big screen I can see who is calling me, an answer phone that just keeps messages, and a keyboard with buttons I can see and use without pressing 4 at one time. A menu that is simple to understand, and a mobile operator that does not keep calling to check I am getting the best out of my phone, or to give me offers I do not understand. Am I a grumpy old man? YES!! Well done Steven Manchester store is a better place thanks to you. Ps, I took a friend of mine who was having problems with his mobile top up yesterday Sat 27.11.10 as I told him I am sure Steven will help and sort it out for you, on arrival at around 6pm found on asking that Steven does not work weekends, they were not surprised me asking for him by name as apparently is happens all the time as he is so popular, BUT another very helpful guy called TOM dealt with the problem, I am not used to all this good service in one shop!! Tom did everything he could, which included getting Virgin mobile on the phone, holding for around 20 min, with not one complaint or sigh or sign of frustration, he sorted the problem and my m8 was so impressed he said the next mobile he gets will be from that store. I asked who the manager was and Tom pointed Sam out, so I went over and told him what great staff he has in Steven and Tom, well done guys such a refreshing change to have such great service.
bought a nokia 6700 from the car phone warehouse broke after 30 days ,took it back they had it for 32 days days when it came back it had not even been repaired, took it back the next day they then had it for 7 days, then they give me a new hanset after 28 days that broke still waiting after 17 days for new phone, when i looked into it they dont give you a new phone its a refurbished phone, which is bang out of order as they are a fraction of the price of a new phone. SO BEWARE the phone u get back is not new after all ,,,, dont use them , they ok taking your money but once you have a proplem they just dont want to know,, if all us who have had a proplem with them email watchdog it would not be to good for them/////
I made the mistake of walking into my local Carphone Warehouse at The Galleries, Washington, Tyne and Wear just to look at the phones. The salesman pounced and wouldn't leave me alone. I had been thinking of a new phone contract so I agreed to a 12 month one for £20 a month with Talk mobile but he claimed that I hadn't passed the credit check with Talk mobile (strange since he later remarked that I have "an excellent credit rating") but then pressured me (I'm a little lass and he's a BIG guy) into accepting an Orange contract which was £30 a month for £24 months - MUCH more than I wanted or could really afford! He waited until I'd signed the contract and, as soon as I had handed him the pen back, said triumphantly "You can't cancel it, mind, they don't do that anymore"!!! I was now locked into a 24 month contract I don't want and can't afford. When I returned to the store a few days later to complain and insist that the contract was mis-sold he said "You're past the 14 day cancellation period", when I replied, "No I'm not, it's less than 14 days since I signed it" he got his phone out of his pocket, put it onto calendar and started counting the days. When he realised it WAS within 14 days he said "Well, it makes no difference, we don't have a 14 day cancellation policy anyway"! At this point, the manageress started backing him up, they both became very rude and pushy in their attitude and basically told me I had signed it and it was my hard luck. When I pointed out that the "yes" box above my signature had not been ticked (to say I agreed to the terms and conditions of the contract) they just stared at me for a few seconds and then repeated the same arguments. I phoned Orange's customer service no, since the service I signed for is with them, and tried to cancel the contract with them - I was told that the contract was with Carphone Warehouse, not them and that I had been lied to because they COULD cancel the contract - it is at the manager/ess's discretion. So I went back into the shop the following day and asked to speak to the manageress - a different man appeared saying that she was out but that he was acting manager that day. I explained it all to him and he immediately took his phone out of his pocket, put it onto calendar, started counting the days and said "You're past the 14 day cancellation period"! I pointed out that he was wrong and he started arguing that you count the day the contract was signed as one of the days and then waffled some inaudible rubbish. When I argued he said - yes, you've guessed it - "Well it makes no difference, we don't have a 14 day cancellation policy anyway"!!! I pointed out again that the "yes" box not being ticked nullifies the contract and he said he'd tell the manageress that I'd been in and get her to call me. I returned home and called Carphone Warehouse's "customer services" number and spoke to a woman who also kept arguing that I hadn't taken it back soon enough but that there is no soon enough because they don't have a cancellation policy! When I told her that the "yes" box is not ticked on the form she went away for a while then came back to the phone and said she'd have to refer it to their "legal dept" and then started arguing that I hadn't brought it back soon enough again whilst, simultaneously saying that there is no cancellation policy! Neither the shop manageress, nor the legal dept have called me back, they're just ignoring me now so I remain stuck with a phone contract I didn't want in the first place and can't afford. I HAVE ONLY GIVEN ONE STAR BECAUSE I DIDN'T HAVE THE OPTION TO GIVE NONE!
I ordered a memory card online. After 11 days, I still had not received it so I phoned to find out why. The sales team at Carphone warehouse had cancelled the order as it was out of stock for over 7 days. No email or phone call to tell me this, the item was in stock when I ordered it! I asked to speak to the supervisor, to be told he was on a break, I was then passed through to customer service, who said "sorry" then tried to put me back through to the sales team to order something else as an alternative. When asked to talk to a manager, guess what? Not available, did I want to wait 72 hours for a call back or be put through to the complaints team? The complaints team were too cheerful and basically just said sorry, but there was nothing they can do. There was no indication that their process would be improved to ensure their own procedure of informing the customer whether an order has been cancelled and why and no real regret that thiss problem had occurred! I advise anyone thinking of ordering from The Carphone Warehouse to think again!
On the Carphone Warehouse website I sourced and ordered a deal for Orange Broadband Max. The reason I chose this was the cost was advertised at £9.50 per month. The text beneath stated that: "The Orange Home Max package offers amazing value for the household that needs to stay connected. It includes your telephone line rental (saving you up to £11 per month) so you'll get only one bill for your home phone and broadband." My understanding of the phrase "it includes your line rental" means I do not have to pay extra for a phone line. Wrong! They wanted to charge me an additional £10.50 for the land line. Orange have been most helpful and agree with my thinking. Carphonewarehouse have said otherwise and have said that if I am unhappy with the deal I can cancel. I told them I have an order confirmation so I have a contract with them they claim otherwise. They said what is on the website is not always availlable. I checked whilst on the phone to them and said the web still had the deal. I was then informed that included means that I would have to include line rental of my own!!!! I have cancelled the order strangely enough. I 100% do not recommend them for this transaction. My advice is to check everything before the 14 day cooling off period is over. I would like to know what would recourse I would have had if I had gone ahead with the transaction and found I was charged over double the original advertised and confirmed order price.
We have a carphone warehouse store in our local town of Nuneaton, they sell a variety of mobile phone deals with most of the major networks which is useful to compare all the different contracts you can get, I had always before visited the website to see what they can offer but decided that this one time I will visit the store. I wish I'd never bothered!! The store is small but always tidy with good displays of the different contracts and mobiles you can purchase. As soon as we walked in we got jumped on by the pushy sales people, i thought I would give them the benefit of the doubt and we asked about a contract for both me and my partner where we could get unlimited calls or text to each other. They kept going on about an orange contract for £35 a month which we would be able to call and text each other for free, we said that we didn't want to pay that much and we didn't want more than an 18 Month contract, but it fell on deaf ears! He said he could sort it all out for us and when we started going through the process of ordering we noticed it said 24 month contract and we reminded him that we said we didn't want any more than 18 months and he said that you couldn't get 18 month contracts anymore (which I know is a load of rubbish!) we said we already told him we only wanted an 18 month and he looked at us with a blank expression so we got up and left!!!!! It has put me off the store and will now prefer to go directly to the actual network, I think the website is good to browse different contracts but the staff were too pushy in the store for me.
the worst company ever.took money out of my bank without any authorisation whatsoever.my bank is not happy either.do not touch them please
