I am not a big fan of carphone warehouse. I have been messed around by them in the past.
In my experiance the people working there would rather give you a deal that is more lucrative for them than you!

The store is set up to act as a medium between a service provider and the customer. They bring you all the deals from most phone companies and put them under one roof in an effort to avoid the confusion of buyin a phone. They have all the contract deals and also the pay as you go options. They then help you set your phone. It sounds like a good idea and it does work I feel I have just had a bad experiance.

I was buying a new contract deal after my previous one had run out. This being my first contract I wasn't sure what to do so I went in there. I asked a staff member if it was worth me ringing T-mobile to see if they could offer me anything but I was told the carphone warehouse would get me the best deal! After a look around a got a new phone free and set up my new contract. I was then told I had to have insurance. I knew from previous times that it was not an obligation to take out insurance and told the member of staff this. he told me tere had been a policy change and that to walk out of the shop I needed insurance but was told as soon as I got home I could cancel it on the net and no money would be taken from me!It seemed pretty straight forward and I thought nothing of it! When £35 was taken from my account at the end of the month I was livid! I rang carphone warehouse and was told they had no record of me cancelling. After a few months of complaining I was told there was no ploicy to get insurance so I was lied to....grrr. I reported the member of staff and demanded my money. It took 4 months but I finally got it with no apology! To add to the frustration T-mobile have told me that if I had rang them them could have carried on my contract from the previous year at a £5 reduction a month as I had been with them a year.

I do advise going to the service provider shops! It is always trouble buying a phone as the staff want the best commision. Go in there knowing what you want and dont back down or change you mind. Dont take any suspicious offers and get out of there!
