Advantages: Occassionally pick up a bargain

Disadvantages: Fencers of stolen goods

In my local town, Norwich, There is a street that has been almost completely taken over by a shop. A shop that is somehow legal and seemingly unregulated. This shop is called, Cash Convertors. This Shop buys goods, very often stolen goods,at a fraction of their true value, and then sells these goods at high prices. Welcome to the world of the 'Legal' Fencers.

I actually know somebody that had their flat broken into and found that half of their stuff was in Cash Convertors the next week!! (and no she didnt buy it back, she found cheaper goods elsewhere!!)

Cash convertors basically sells anything electrical, jewellery, cds etc, fishing tackle, bikes... practically anything with any sell on value. But I must warn you that you are probably best off shopping around as the price of some of their items can be found at a similar price new!!!

Cash convertors take advantage of social problems such as drug addiction and unemployment etc. They even have the cheek to photograph you if you try and sell anything (although I think that this may be something they have been made to do legally), I recommend that if people are able to, they buy their products knew.

I tried to sell something at this shop once, it was a mens diamond ring that I didnt want as it was a present from my ex-girlfriend. This ring cost £135 new three months previously and there was an exact same ring in the shop priced at £70. I was offered £2.50 for it!! When considering that the value of this ring as SCRAP was £15, it makes you wonder how they can stock their shops!!!

I recommend that you boycott this shop, for victory to anyone that has ever been burgled or mugged.

Thanks.

Ryan.

Well again this has been posted on Ciao and if I owned the Cash Converters franchise in Norwich I would sue for libel. Contrary to your disgraseful review, Cash Converters will not process a purchase etc without TWO FORMS OF HIGH QUALITY ID. If they inadvertently take in stolen goods, they fully cooperate with the Police. Your 'review' is probably based on the fact you were narked about the price offered on your goods. Offers are either taken or left.

An interesting point of view! I've only bought a couple of cheap CD's from here before. I don't think I'd ever consider buying any of their electrical goods.

Hear blinkin' hear!

These places are modern day pawnshops, no more, no less. They prey on society's desperates and make a rapacious profit. And as you say, they don't seem to be very careful to ensure ownership of goods when they purchase, thus ending up also preying on the victims of crime.

They suck.
