Newest Review: ... easy access to Norwich's other shopping areas worked meant that old and new complemented each other. Castle Mall is right in the City Centre - with buses stopping right outside, and easy parking at one of the two multi storey car parks that are included in the complex. Access is easy for disabled visitors, with lifts, level floors, and the ability to hire "Shopmobility" scooters. ... more

Prior to the completion of the Castle Mall shopping centre in 1993, Norwich was not considered a prime centre for shopping. Whilst it provided sufficient for every day shopping - Marks & Spencers, Woolworths, Top Shop and Debenhams, for example, and of course Norwich has a very large daily market, many people considered going to Cambridge, or even to London if they wanted a decent shopping outing. The building of a "proper" shopping centre, then, gave Norwich a lift up the "shopping" ladder. However, like many big new projects, especially ones that were built at the tail end of a recession that had hurt many people over the preceding ...  Read the complete review

When it was constructed in 1993 it was the largest shopping centre in Norwich and became a regional shopping destination. Since the construction of the Castle Mall, shopping has changed significantly in the city, largely with the development and opening two years ago of the Chapelfield complex, another large shopping centre situated on St. Stephen's Street, just a few minutes walk from the Castle Mall. There are a range of food outlets, mostly on the top floor which is known as the food court, which was refitted two years ago. The best known of the chains is probably ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Shop 'till you drop (151 words)

I think Norwich is a great place to shop. The best department stores are Bonds, a branch of John Lewis, and Jarrolds which has loads of books and a great art department. There are two branches of Thorntons chocolate, yummy, and loads of places to eat. The Castle Mall is full of interesting shops; including Pier which sells great things for presents, the Disney Store and Argos. It really pays to explore Norwich as there are lots of little alleys and backstreets which have different shops. There are lots in the area around Jarrolds which is near the market. Elm Hill is a cobbled street which used to have better shops than they have now ...  Read the complete review
