When in London I often keep an eye out if I'm in an upmarket area for any charity shops on the simple premise that if the locals are a bit posh then there is a good chance that amongst the stuff they donate to charity shops there will be some half decent designer label stuff and in the past this ethos has worked well for meas I have picked up items by Versace and DK as well as some excellent retro gear that you can personalise and adapt for wearing out as part of an individual fashion design.

Admittedly you do have to hunt through the stuff as there is a lot of tat and I'm sure some of the really good stuff never makes it to the shop shelves, one thing I have noticed is that in some charity shops like Oxfam the prices have started to creep up a bit as well and you have to hunt for the bargains.

I have found some good items in Leamington Spa which seems to have quite a few charity shops in the town centre but just off the main high street, it is also a grat shopping venue for one off shops with some nice oddities in them hence the reason I shop there.

Overall the key with charity shops is to persevere and not feel like you have to buy something on every visit and always look out for the ones in the posh areas as the quality of stuff is often better.
