I was a charity shop snob, until about 2 years ago. I was quite happy though to buy off ebay. It was only when my neice wet herself when I was shopping did I pop into one to see if they had any trousers in her size.
I wouldn't say it was the best shopping experience I have ever had. The shop smelt and the stuff on display was a bit like a jumble sale, however the staff were friendly and helped me to find something suitable for my neice to wear. The trousers I brought cost me £1 and were a pair of next combats in pink.
I would have prefered to have given them a wash first but needs must..
I have since been back to that shop and got a few good bargains.
The other charity shops are a little more modern and not unpleasent to visit. You do get a mixed crowd in them nowadays, from the stereotypical o.a.p to young students.
The local charity shops on the high street in Bletchley are Rspca, Mind, Cancer research, Extra care, Age concern, Willan Hospice and Willan Hospice Furniture shop.
I must say that charity shops has gone downhill slightly since the recession.
I think this is because people are taking to selling there unwanted items and more people are looking for a bargain, because of this I have noticed that my local charity shops have increased their prices for clothes.
I now only tend to visit them for books, most children books cost me about 25p each.
I also re-donate the books as well.
