Darling, Barbie can't make it to the party!! (Children's Parties)

Advantages: The kiddies love them Disadvantages: Mess, expense etc
My daughter had her first big birthday party when she was four years old. We hired out a bouncy castle for the garden and she invited all of her little friends from nusery. To my surprise, the parents kissed their children goodbye and left, which meant I was in charge of 14 three and four year olds. I have to say that it was the worst day of my life with all the fighting, crying, pant-wetting, drink-spilling and food all over the carpet. Last year for her fifth birthday, I had learned my lesson and decided to take her to a local restaurant where they have a ball pool and soft play area. I 'phoned for a price and was told that it was £5 per head and if there were ten or more kids then we would receive a free cake. WOW! Now don't get me wrong, I love my daughter dearly but there was no way that I was paying fifty quid for a kids party! I got her to choose five friends and took them to the restaurant , bought them all fish and chips, they played for one and a half hours. They all got a piece of homemade cake and it cost me £14! It is her sixth birthday in two and a half weeks and so far she has 45 or so people on the guest list, Barbie and the Tweenies. I don't think I would make a very good Barbie and she would not be too impressed if daddy and his mate turned up dressed as Milo and Jake. This child has no concept of money and will not understand when I inform her that this will not be possible due to lack of parental funding! Maybe next year she will forget that she has asked to go to Disneyland and will settle for a McDonalds instead! Summary: |
