Advantages: cheap little things to buy, good gifts

Disadvantages: no room to swing a cat

Claire’s is an accessory shop, this means that there aren’t too many larger objects in the shop. It’s mostly little things like hair bands, jewellery, make up etc. This means that they can get quite a lot of stuff on sale in a smaller space. This sounds like a good idea but you can’t crowd five people around one stand all looking for something because there just isn’t room.

Every Claire’s shop in this area is tiny. I think they rent out broom cupboards or something to put their shop in. Not only are the shops tiny but they are always busy. Have you ever seen twenty people all in one little room trying to get to the part of the shop they want to see? It’s a regular occurrence in Claire’s.

The items that they sell are great, especially around Christmas time, they have loads of little gifts. They sell every day items and you will also find great accessories to wear for a night out/party/fancy dress. It’s amazing what you can find in this shop, like an Aladdin’s cave!

They have a great range for kids, everything is really fun looking and bright so if you have children don’t expect to take them into this shop and come out without buying anything.

In case you are planning to buy loads (how many hair bands can one person use?) they provide shopping baskets. They have mirrors up around the shop so that you can see what something looks like before you buy it. They also have an ear piercing service which is quite cheap. For this they usually stick you in the window so the entire town can see you and staple a bit of metal through your ear. OK for people who don’t mind a bit of pain but can you imagine a younger child having this done!! I think maybe they should have somewhere a little more private for the ear piercing! You get a choice of earrings though so if you can put up with a little pain it’s a good place to have your ears hole punched.

Because the shop is always so busy you will often find it messy. It’s not the staff’s fault though, they can’t get to anything to tidy it up. They must fill the shelves when the shop is closed because it would be impossible to do anything while they are open. There will be things on the floor, things on the wrong peg, things missing and in a completely different part of the shop…..

They do reduce things quite often but not by much and it’s usually the rubbish that they can’t sell anyway. This is not a bad thing because everything is quite cheap anyway. Everything is very reasonably priced and you get budget goods as well as better quality more expensive items.

The tills are strange, they don’t tend to have anywhere you can put the stuff you are buying, you have to sort of hand it to the assistant. This may just be the store I am going into though!

The staff are all very friendly which is amazing because they are always so busy! They must have a lot of patience.

This is not really a good shop to browse in, more like a shop you go in if you know you need to buy something. It’s nice to look around but you just haven’t got the space. My advise is, you have a good product line, now make it a little more accessible!

Argggghhh, having flashbacks of working there, urgghh!!!!!!!! (It puts you off ever wanting kids!!!)
The idle time to go without getting cramped is before 10.30, kids don't get up that early!!!
Good op btw!
