Advantages: Good service, range of width fittings
Disadvantages: Go when they have experienced staff are working
I like Clarks shoes - no - I really do, I had an unfortunate experience with the local shop when I went to buy my son's first pair of shoes (read my Startrite review) but this time around when I went to get my son's second pair they were fab. Granted his feet had grown (now a size 4 - yippee) but the service we had was great.
I had been in and out of Clarks getting my son's shoes checked (he had had them for 5 plus months) so it was getting to the point of 'are his feet ever gonna grow?' So every few weeks as told by the Clarks shoe assistant I returned to get them checked again until finally, one day my son decides that walking is not good, he sits down and tries to take off his shoes. Hmmm, I thought, we were actualy right outside Clarks, and we pootled into teh shoe shop to get his shoes checked. Low and behold the shoe he was trying to take off was now too small, his toes were at the end - fluke? who knows?
So the nice lady measured my son's feet, no problem, my little man is quite happy to have his feet measured so no problems there. Then we were asked did we want to see anything in particluar and so we had a little look around. I found a nice pair of shoes suitable for my little man and off went the lady to get the size measured. Now of course, my son's feet come in two sizes, both a size 4 (one only just, the other definately a 4), and one width F and the other a G. So we tried the bigger size first. The assistant was very knowledgeable and felt for my sons toes, walked him up and down, felt how much rom there was for width and then decided that this style of shoe needed a smaller size. All fine and dandy, tried the smaller size and perfect fit. I was more than happy with this service, it says to me they don't just try and fob you off with any pair of shoes just to get a sale, they know the importance of a proper fitting shoe.
All shoes are expensive and I do find that those that are fitted whether this be from Clark sor any other shoe shop, are more expensive. I paid £30 for this pair of shoes. Fingers crossed they last him as long as his other pair of shoes did! But all in all, who can put a price on comfort, and proper fitting shoes with the correct length and width in order to ensure the protection of delicate feet as they grow.
I do like Clarks, I have experienced excellent customer service here and have been happy so far with the shoes I have bought for my son.
I would shop here again.
Summary: Great shop, great shoes!
