Advantages: How the shoes last and are hardwearing
Disadvantages: Can be very pricey
My daughter started walking when she was about 11 months, so we thought we would go and get her measured for her first pair of shoes, now in any parents book this can be a joyous occasion, therefore you want to make the visit as smooth as it can be. First we went to our local shoe shop in town, they measured her feet, but said that she had wide feet and they didn't stock shoes to fit her.
So we ventured further out of town to our nearest shopping center about 20 miles away, we found a clarks shop, but up until then i didn't think to use it, plus i always hear how expensive the shoes are.
Anyway we went in and was greeted by a smiling assistant, we looked around for a couple of minutes and she asked if she could assist us in anyway, we explained that we where wanting to get our daughter measured, and fitted for a pair of shoes. She happily measured my daughters feet, who in theory didn't like the idea of her feet being touched and kept trying to wriggle away! In the end we got her size, and it turns out she has got wide feet- just like her mum!!
The assistant went out the back and brought back about 6 different pairs and styles to chose from, out of which 4 fit her the best and looked comfy. We decided to pick out two pairs, a pair of trainers and a pair of buckle up shoes. I quickly looked at the quality and how they where made and was very impressed. The material and lining was made from leather and the soles where made from rubber, and they looked like a really sturdy shoe.
The lovely assistant then asked if our daughter would like a picture with her new shoes free of charge, and we thought this would be a lovely momentum, after about 5 minutes we finally got her to stand still, and she looked so cute, with her 'big girls' shoes on. We hadn't noticed but at the time Clarks had a huge sale on, and instead of shoes costing £28.00 and £24.00, they cost us £14.00 and £12.00, so we really got two pairs of shoes for the price off one. Needless to say we where very happy with the whole experience.
I don't buy clarks shoes all the time because i do think they are expensive- apart from when the sales where are on. So i tend to look at others places like ebay for good second hand pairs, and when my daughters need the next size up i will take a trip to clarks, get them measured and buy a pair. The shoes i have brought in the past have lasted and have never failed me, they are hard wearing, so yes sometimes can be good value for money.
The service was excellent, and the staff made you feel at ease, they all must have been through the process of measuring kids feet thousands of times, but try to make your visit as special as possible, and because does have wide feet i find it hard to find other shoe shops who can cater for her.
Thumbs up from me clarks :)
Summary: Thumbs up from me!!
