Advantages: Cater for width of foot as well as length

Disadvantages: price

Clarks is one of those places that everyone knows about and is renowned fo being one of the top places to buy your childrens shoes from.

My family weren't very well off when I was a little one but I always remember my mum saying that she would never compromise on shoes. They had to be from Clarks no matter what price she had to pay. I alo gave her the added problem of having super narrow feet so I had to get my shoes from there anyway because no other shop did shoes that would fit my stupid feet. I hated this because whilst all of my friends were in super cool shoes at aged 11years old to 13 years old, I would be stood with an old-fashioned pair from Clarks.

One thing I did look forward to was having my feet measured. Oh how I loved stepping onto that machine. First the two metal bits would come out from the sides to measure the width of my foot. After this one would enclose the top and bottom of my tootsies. The feeling of the metal against my bare sock was something I cherish to this very day.

The Clarks mentality must have been ingrained in me because I now find my self taking my little chap to the same place and guess what? I won't compromise on his feet either! He will have Clarks no matter what the expense is (I'm hoping that his brother will be around the same size feet as him so he can recieve all the hand-me-downs). Oh guess what else? The amazing measuring machine has gone! Sob! Sob! I was so excited to see is little face when he stood on the machine but instead she walked out to the store room and came back with a boring hand measurer!

I find the staff in Clarks so friendly, so much more than anywhere else I have ever bee I think. They really make an effort. Today I went into get my son a new pair of trainers and before I had practically walked out of the lift one of the staff was offering to help. Normally I hate this and have a 'leave me alone' attitude but I needed to get his feet measured. She was really good with my son and the other staff members were entertaining my other son whilst I got some shoes for son number one (I should just use there names it would be easier!).

Clarks are very expensive but they are the only place in our ara that measure precisely to the foot. For example my son is a 51/2E so rather than just buying him a 51/2 else where and it be to wide for his foot (he has inherited the 'narrow foot sydrome' from me) these fit him perfectly length wise and width wise. They do this for adults shoes too.

They seem to have a huge selection for kids and even in the sale I wa spoilt for choice.

The sales are great nd I got sme shoes today which were half price. When they have a sale they really have a sale.

I wouldn't buy shoes for myself from Clarks because they tend to look a bit dated and for the older generation but I ca assure you when I hit my 60's I'll be the first one through the door.

My only problems with the Clarks store in our area are this:
1) The lift is tiny! You can only get one pram in the lift so if you go in on the weekend ad there is a sale you basically have to queue for the lift which is a bit of a pain when you have two boys under two. I wasn't happy about waiting so I went back today and this wasn't a problem.

2) Why the heck is he kids section upstairs? Surely it's more practical to keep it downstairs because I bet most of the parents that shop there for their children have buggys or prams. It wouldn't hurt to make the women and men walk a couple of flights of stairs. It would save us mums a fair bit of hassle with our buggys.

Apart from that I would recommend Clarks to anyone who cares about their childrens feet.

Summary: A brillient shoe shop.
