Advantages: a wide range

Disadvantages: more expensive than most

I try to get away with buying expensive cards but there are occasions that request a card or that little something extra special that you don't get from the local shop, or from cards that really look like the 99p you paid for them. Generally I find the majority of people keep a card for a week or so and then it goes in the bin. It doesn't make for a very cost effective venture, but there are times when you want to mark an occasion and a card is the best way of doing it.
I prefer Clintons because they appear to be the king of all card shops in their domain, however their prices do reflect this.

The brief history attached to Clintons is that they opened in 1968, and then their stores grew. In recent years they have taken over the chain Birthdays and also acquired many of Hallmark card shops as well.

Clintons is primarily a card shop, however a card shop doesn't just sell cards these days. You can visit a Clinton's card shop and find merchandise ranging from cards through to wrapping paper, badges, mugs, photo frames, soft toys, as well as many other seasonal treats.

The prices of a standard card will start from around £2. This depends on what sort of card you are looking for. There are budget cards starting from under the £2 mark, right up to the large fancy "I sing, dance and do everything" cards which you can expect to pay a lot more for.

I prefer going to Clintons when I have a special event to buy for because their products do look and feel much better quality than you can find in other shops. There is also a good range of present ideas that I can peruse if I get stuck for something small to buy.
If I know I have an aged birthday coming up, for example a not popular age such as 15 years old, I can go into Clintons and know that if I want a card with the age 15 on it I will find it, and I will be able to find a badge to match, and balloons if I so choose. The list really does go on; unfortunately my wallet can't keep up with the products.

Another big reason why I prefer Clintons over a different card shop or outlet is because their shops are almost usually larger than their rival shops, therefore they fit more goods inside, and I can spend hours wandering around looking at all the different cards I can buy for the future.
I pop into a supermarket and I can buy a standard "Happy Birthday Granddad" for example card. I go into Clintons and I can come out with anything from the above through to an almost personalised card for Granddad, or a funny, serious, laughing, talking, singing, big, small, blank card for Granddad. The choice is endless. Sometimes I curse this reason as I don't have long to choose and I would almost prefer to have less choice, but I like to be able to find the card to fit the person and that's not always possible in a small outlet.

If you want something a bit extra special go to Clintons.

Summary: an all round card shop
