Advantages: Good quality items, there when you need them

Disadvantages: Expensive compared with their competitors

I'm afraid I'm being a bit Simon Cowell-esque here but the Co-op is a very average store to shop in.

The good points are that the Co-op has pretty much a store in anywhere bigger than a hamlet/small village. The food items and all other items are normally very good quality and there are occasionally good offers to be had (though you sometimes do have to look hard).

The bad points are that the Co-op is very expensive for a weekly shop compared to the likes of Tesco and Asda where a weekly shop is always a fair amount cheaper. Even Sainsburys is nearly always cheaper and the items are normally of equal quality. This puts the Co-op in a difficult position - they're comparatively expensive to pretty much all their competitors and the quality is very good but not a huge amount better.

In short the co-op is good for everyday items and being there for essentials but expensive for a weekly shop.

Summary: Expensive, but good quality - stores nearly everwhere
