Advantages: Good to help other countries
Disadvantages: need more staff
THe Coop are a brand that fight for fair trade payment for communities in countries like africa. Many of their products are fair trade, and there are loads of different types of companies that they offer. They have funeral homes, shops and lots of random things that you wouldnt expect.
I am reviewing the shop part. In Burley in Leeds is a medium sized coop shop, where most of the students in hyde park and burley do their shopping. They stock a range of products, fruit, vege, cereals, alcohol etc. The best bit about this branch is that they have a Greggs instore. Now this doesnt seem very cooperative to me, surely they should be helping local businesses. However I do love Greggs fresh bread and its so nice to get fresh bread instead of that longlife rubbish. It would be better if they had intergrated the baker that is just down the road and had to close due to lack of customers.
Most of the products in here are more expensive than in Morrisons, because it is a convenience store. I wouldnt do a full shop here, as I cant afford it, but I do use it to pick up the odd out of date Frij, or a loaf of bread.
The staff range between very surly and sort of helpful. The most helpful are the staff in the Greggs section.
There are always long queues as they never seem to have enough tills open or staff. Be prepared to queue to the back of the store. Once we had a whole basket of shopping and the queue went right round the the exit, we just put the basket down, left and went to support Mistrys the local little shop, where we received much better service, although the bread was not fresh.
Summary: Its ok for a few things
