Advantages: Some good offers
Disadvantages: A little dear on some iems
Our local shop is a Co-operative food shop and thus far since living in the area (for nearly nine months now) we've been very impressed with what it has to offer.
As a starting point it has the sole free cash machine in the area which is obviously a major benefit to it as we do live in the middle of the countryside, but obviously ignoring this fact it's important to note that the shop offers quite a large range of produce from the obvious bread and milk to the less expected things such as cake candles and drinking straws.
Their prices aren't the best in the world, but it is only a small local shop rather than your Wal Mart backed ASDA so that's to be expected somewhat, that said when they have offers on they can be more than competititve and I have picked up bargain bottles of alcohol there in the past and found large bags of Cadbury chocolates for less than a pound.
The service is fair to middling but at our local store there always seem to be several members of staff working so we don't have a big issue with this.
Summary: A good place for the little bits and pieces but not somewhere to do a full weekly shop.
