I was first taken to Costco a couple of years ago by a friend. To be honest I quite liked being able to get into this "exclusive" club. I went a couple more times prior to joining and now there are certain products I wouldn't consider buying from anywhere else. (Meat for example.)

As a teacher many of my colleagues are members and none of them have anything negative to say. The prices are "competitive", by this I mean that that nothing is outrageously cheap, but the quality is outstanding. Costco have their own brand, Kirkland, some of the best bargains and highest quality come under this name.

I have read one negative comment on this site about someone who bought a defective DVD player and refused to have it exchanged or receive their money back. It strikes me that to have done so would have solved the problem. Costco is "no frills", this is what keeps the prices down, if you want flashy displays and employees falling at your feet to cater for your every whim then Costco isn't the place for you. The savings and quality that you receive more than compensate for this.

I would whole heartedly recommend Costco to any one who meets their qualifying criteria. The membership fee is is miniscule when you tot up the savings. In my experience the staff are exceptionally busy but friendly nonetheless. I am very fortunate to live in close proximity to two stores and therefore normally pass one or the other in the space of a week.

As an individual member I am not allowed to use the store in the mornings. Although not a major downside (I am normally working at these times anyway), it would be nice to be able to shop there whenever I wished. This and the long queues at the checkout are the only negatives I can think of - the long queues, though, are indicative of it's popularity and value for money, this must be a good thing!

I am amazed that I have taken the time to write this r
eview and that I feel so positively about a shop. I normally hate any form of shopping yet Costco lacks the fussiness and the overt salesmanship of out-of-town shopping centres. It seems more honest somehow, I never feel like I am being ripped-off. I suppose this is the main reason for my recommending Costco!
