Advantages: range, bulk purchases, electricals demonstrated

Disadvantages: not all that cheap, faff and expense to join, quirky range of some things

Costco is a Cash and Carry place that lets ordinary plebs in at certain times for a fee... If corner shop owners shop in here I don't know how they make any money as most of the stuffis cheaper in ASDA anyway. The signing up process is quite a palaver, you need umptenn kinds of ID , you have to have some semblance of respectability in your work ie most public sector employees. So you feel you are joining sme kind of exclusive club and it should be good. They make a big deal about displaying their prices inclusive of VAT (unlike makro I suppose) but the inclusive price is written tiny with the net price written in huge letters so it is very easy ot get caught out especially with high ticket items.
The prices on electrical things are quite good but you can get better with specials at Currys, Comets etc and certainly on the internet. They do display things working which is a big help. The food/groceries is ok but a lot of it comes in bulk so unless you want 3 dozen toilet rolls it may not be much use to the average family. They have some weird stuff: I noticed a full sized 2 man canoe and a massage therapy table last week. I understand they do not help with heavy or bulky items which makes it a bit tricky to buy a washing machine from them. All in all, I think your £30 joining fee (including VAT - they even do it with that) would be better spent at ASDA or TESCO.

I bought my dyson at costco almost 2 years ago and even now you'd be hard pushed to find it's equal in price anywhere else.
