Advantages: If you're the sort of person who enjoys stress, they're great
Disadvantages: Dangerous products, incredibly bad customer service
Don't risk your health or your wallet!
We bought a pair of boots (and some trousers) from Cotton Traders, and on first day of wearing (having been worn 1/2 hour in the morning), an eyelet sprang from the boots when I went to put them on for my jouney home. Not great- the product was clearly not fit for purpose, but more worrying, it sprang off at considerable speed in the direction of my face.
I called Customer Services, who said to return them and they'd pay postage. I waited for the postage refund, and when it didn't arrive, had to engage in a dialogue lasting over a year just to get return postage refunded. (They had ignored the letter, and return form included in the box which indicated the goods were faulty/not fit for purpose.) They simply won't respond to my concern that I was milimetres from being blinded by their product. They absolutely refused to pay the initial postage, as they claim that the extra item on the order, despite constituting a minority of the order- so I 'had benefit' of the initial postage even though the main item had to be returned as it was faulty. Plus, they refused to pay any goodwill for the length of time it took resolving the issue, or for the injury near miss their product caused.
And just to top it off- I then sent a letter to the Managing Director expressing concern about this treatment, which he ignored.
Their products might be cheap, but is it really worth your health?
Summary: Cotton Traders combine supply of faulty, dangerous products, with incredibly bad customer service.
