Advantages: None

Disadvantages: Dim staff, time wasting, dishonest

A week or so ago, my mum went to buy a new dishwasher. In the end she found one in Currys. It was a Beko brand dishwasher. It was arranged that the dishwasher would be delivered on Tuesday, and someone would phone to confirm the expected time of arrival the day before.

We waited for the call on the Monday, but there wasn't one. My mum was a bit worried so she phoned the warehouse number she had been given. The phone just rang and rang. In the end my mum phoned the store she had bought the dishwasher from and spoke to a blithering idiot who didn;t know anything. So, she had no choice, but to wait in all day on Tuesday.

Eventually the dishwasher arrived (about 3.30pm). They unloaded it and undud the packaging. They came back to the house to tell my mum that it was damaged and had a dent down the side. So, off they went and my mum had wasted a day waiting for a dented dishwasher. Of course, these things do happen...once!

She is given a new delivery date which is on Friday and the whole scenario turned full circle and started again. No phone call to confirm the time, blithering idiot at Currys. To cut a long story short, the new dishwasher arrived on the Friday. The delivery men dumped it in out kitchen at a rather odd angle, the fornt facing the wrong way to the alcove it was to go in. My mum had checked it as best she could and the men got her to sign and then got out of the house as fats as they could.

After turning the dishwasher round to slot it into the alcove, there was a big dent in the side. My mum was furious! They had basically tried to give us the same damaged dishwasher and had been rather sneaky about it too.

We went straight to Currys and demanded a refund, and for the dishwasher to be taken away. We were told that it couldn't be taken away until the following Monday. I asked them why they didn't check stock before they sent it out, they told us that they couldn't open it
because people wouldn't accept it. Well, that isn't true because they open up the packaging inside the lorry, so the customer would receive it opened. I also bought my TV from Curry's and the box had been opened. So, basically, they were just trying to offload shoddy goods onto their customers. He also tried to fob us off by saying that a row of dishwashers may have been hit on one side! From the position of the dent, that was impossible.

So, in total, my mum wasted 3 days waiting for this dishwasher and had to live with the inconvenience of storing it in her kitchen until it was picked up. SHe also had to look for a new dishwasher, one that didn't dent so easily.

I wouldn't recommend buying anything from this store. They can't be trusted or relied on at all.

The problem so often is that these stores are all owned by the same company. So you are stuck when it comes to choice. Although I hate Comet shops, their online service is brilliant.

Can I make a suggestion..... do the dishes by hand and spend the money on something more exciting, like a holiday?! ;)
