Advantages: great variety
Disadvantages: sales are manic
I am a fan of Debenhams they are my only local department store that I have in the area and when i go in there i am almost always guaranteed that i will find the item that i need.
Debenhams sells everything from ladies wear to mens wear, childrens wear, cosmetics, perfume, accessories, toys and homewear. You will always find what you are looking or in this department store.
In the Ladies department you will find the clothing brands Jane Norman, Warehouse, John Rocha, Red Herring, Coast, Oasis, Pineapple, Jasper Conran, Principles, Debut, Maine New England and Star bu Julian Macdonald to name but a few.
When it comes to accessoories you are also spoilt for choice from the footwear section you have Faith, Red Herring, Nine West and the Debennhams collection. In accessories you also have a wide range of jewellery and designer watches, hats, scarfs, gloves, handbags, purses, belts, pashminas, lingerie, cosmetics and perfumes.
In the menswear section you once again have a wide variety, the brands you come across are Ben Sherman, Fred Perry, Topshop, Jeff Banks, Levi, Red Herring, Maine New England, Quicksilver, Animal and many more.
In the childrens section you have the same designers that you find in the adults sections.
In homeware there is a variety from bedding to kitchen accessories, suitcases cutlery, glassware, china and lighting. There is also an electricals department which has tv's, audio, kitchen appliances, personal care, , telephones, photography, furniture and dvd players.
Debenhams also deal with gift cards, wedding lists and at the seasonal times of the year they have great gift sets too. The Christmas selection they have is great and normally has something to offer for everyone.
This department store is great it has everything under one roof, i have never has a problem with any items i have purchased.
I think when it comes to the fashion brands Red Herring is great it is reasonably priced and they have now branched out into clothes, footwear and accessories so you can now find a whole outfit.
Debenhams is great when it comes to sales too you get some great bargains and when it gets to a few week into the sales they bring on their blue cross sales which reduces things by up to 70%.
They also host special sales evenings which is great, but i have found these are very busy and you end up queuing for a long time which is not great if you only have a few small items as it outs you off buying them when you see the queue that you have to join.
I have a store card which is great as it allows me to get more savings on items and when it comes to the sales i have access to more discounts and am invited to the preview evening before other members of the public.
If it came down to a decision my favourite department store has to be House of Fraser, as i like the brands that they stock, but as i do not have one locally Debenhams is the department store that i use regularlly,
Summary: everything under one roof
