Advantages: Good choice
Disadvantages: Depends on the particular store
Debenhams is one of those shops that it depends where I am on whether I will use the store, their shop in Northampton is rather old, cramp and over heated as it is always too hot in the store while the one in Milton Keynes Shopping Centre is very modern, spread over three floors and is a lot more spacious and the temperature is better regulated and controlled so it is a much more pleasant shopping experience.
Debenhams is an interesting place to shop as it is made up of a number of concessions and the clothes sections are segmented by these concessions and also the various designer sections who produce clothes for the company, they usually have a Pineapple concession and I quite like some of their stuff as well as some of the different designers. They have a good range of mens clothes and my other half likes to shop there.
I also like the fact that they have a good cosmetics department with all the top brands and occasionally will have some bargains in the sales however not so much with regards to clothing as they tend to try and off load some of tthe items that they have not sold and there is a lot of tat on the rails.
Of all the Department stores I find Debenhams to be quite reasonable on price, certainly cheaper than Selfridges, and the quality of their clothes is pretty good.
I'm less impressed by the cafe they have in Milton Keynes which is always full of screaming kids, at least it was on the two occasions I visited and wished I had not.
Summary: General department store
