Advantages: Bright airy space
Disadvantages: Customer Toilets
Debenhams have created a nice, big airy space with lots of 'own brand' lines, they seem to have less concessions for women that most Debenhams I have been in (only featuring Phase 8, Coast, Jaques Vert, Oasis and Miss Selfridge for women).
The Debenhams at Westfield seems much more luxurious than others I have been in with beautiful tiled floors and massive fitting rooms. I'll start from the bottom and work up...
The mens section is on the lower ground, a bit difficult to find at first, but a nice selection once you get there. There is also a luggage department, where a particularly helpful young man served us. The space there is quite big and we found the fitting rooms a bit of a challenge to find, but they were adequatley sized (I'm told!) and fairly clean.
The floor above was shoes and handbags and all the make-up counters (we didn't spend much time here) but all looked very clean and not as crammed as other, older stores.
The first floor felt a little more busy, and had a wonderful customer cafe with lovely big windows to look out on. Unfortunatley it was raining, so we couldn't see much! However, I can recommend the Chocolate Soup Mocha!! Yum!
The last floor was where Kids and the home section are. They were quite small, but a reasonable selection.
The main disappoinments were from the customer toilets, one didn't flush properly, the lock was broken on the second and there wasn't much toilet paper to speak of either. I did speak to a young lady about this, and she was most apologetic.
Overall, I liked the store and the selection that it has, but I was disappointed not to find Jane Norman or Wallis. I was also impressed by the helpfulness of anyone I approached (especially the girl that I mentioned the toilets to).
Summary: Nice store, different for a day out
