Advantages: Candle lover heaven! And with no guilt attached at that price!

Disadvantages: Streched arms from carrying all those bags...;)

As someone who has a candle on every square inch of surface available, you can imagine that my bank account tends to suffer quite a lot, particularly around Christmas time when every shop sells a beautiful scented candle of some sort!

However, this year Debenhams have saved me! In a lot of the stores they have a department called the Debenhams Outlet which is a 'bargain basement' of sorts. Now I know that most people picture a jumble sale when they read the words bargain basement (I know I certainly do!) but the Outlet isn't at all like that. The items are arranged in a proper Department store fashion - stacked neatly on the shelves and hanging nicely on the rails!

The Outlet in the Sheffield branch has the most wonderful range of scented and non-scented candles - even larger than the selection in the Debenhams Candle Shop - and here comes the good part.

As all the items in the Outlet department are last-season or end of line stock they are all reduced, plus there is a further 30-50% reduction at the till! I have just picked up a beautiful set of Scented Tealights (a beautiful and seasonal Frankincense & Myrrh fragrance) accompanied by 4 glass ball tealight holders for only £4! And that is just one example of what there is to be had!

I know this opinion has had a slight bias towards candles but the Outlet does actually sell items from all over the store. As I only looked at the candles, I can't really comment on the quality or value of the other items but for reference I noticed they had lots of bathroom accessories, Dorma soft furnishings, and trinkets such as picture frames etc. I would advise you to get down to your local Debenhams and check out the Outlet department - it can't hurt! You never know - you might even like it!

I love the sheffield branch of debenhams - you can get so many bargains on the sale floor. The thing is i can get carried away sometimes and buy loads of stuff i dont need!

Good op. I love candles too. I must admit I rarely go into Debenhams. I have seen them there though but I keep forgetting they do them........ I must go in and take a look.
