All I could see were these purple lights... (Debenhams)

Advantages: Free samples, toys!!, plenty of things for sale

Thats the first I saw of the new Debenhams that had been built in Carlisle, the flourescent purple lights. You could see them from the other side of town, and I loved the colour! It open in the Autumn and I went on that day. My first impressions were right down there, cos it was absolutely packed out. You could hardly move. Me and my friend decided to go down to the bottom of 5 floors in the lift because the escalators were so busy, but even they had about 30 people in them. We ended up going down the stairs. I didn't go in for a while after that.

It was about two weeks later and my friend persuaded me to go in with her when I realised what a good shop it was. First we got a free make over, then we got a load of free samples from the make up counters. We tried on tons of perfumes and make-ups and nail varnishes, then we went up to the car park on level 3.

The view from there was amazing. But not as good as the view from the Castle View restaurant. It's like a huge glass spaceship stuck to the side of the building, on level two. You get the most amazing view of Carlisle Castle, the City Centre, Bitts Park, Hardwicke Circus and the Civic Centre. The food was great too, but expensive.

There was another cafe too, on the ground floor. It opens out into The Lanes shopping centre during the summer, but that only sells drinks.

One of the things I liked about this huge new departement store (the biggest and best in Carlisle)was the escalators. Its terrifying going down them, but fun. They go from level 2 to Lower Ground and are really steep. One of my friends is terrified to go down them!!

On Monday me and my two mates had a great laugh in there. First we were 'testing' the beds, and a woman told us we had to move, so we went and played with all of the kids toys. We soon got bored of that though so we went and used all of the make-up testers. We had a great time, even though we had no cash!


We go there all the
time now. We're addicted. Does anyone else outhere love it as much as us??
