Advantages: Convienient, Good service, Good prices
Disadvantages: Sale times
Wedding lists are one of the easiest and most convienient ways to organise a list which may need to be distributed around the country. a year ago my now husband and i decided that we would have a wedding list, and after much deliberation we chose Debenhams. There were many good reasons why we chose Debenhams over other stores, such as Marks and Spencers, House of Fraser, Habitat etc. 1)Debenhams stores are all over the country - very useful if you have guests spread over the UK. 2)Debenhams have selections of all household items you will need when setting up home - bedding, kitchen, crockery, electrical, bathroom and special occassion, they also have concessions such as Edinburgh crystal, Dorma bedding and with designers such as Jasper Conran you can't go wrong. 3) Debenhams have large stores so you will always be able to find things you like. 4) The stores are mainly in town centres so access for all is good. 5)Debenhams offer a really good service to the bride and groom - they offer to give advise on things to put on your list, how many items to put on (dependant on how many guests), They give you a pack containing example orders of service, invitations, place settings etc. They also give you cards to put in with the invitations so guests know what your individual wedding number is. 6)They have their own range of wedding stationary all at very reasonable prices and for all tastes, simple to luxurious. 7)For all items chosen by guests, the bride and groom will receive 10% back in Debenhams gift vouchers, so you can get the items you really wanted, that no-one bought you. 8)Items can be chosen/purchased over the internet (Debenhams.co.uk) or telephone so guests do not even have to go into the store if they dont want to. 9)Debenhams offer a gift wrapping and delivery service to guests for a small charge. 10)Wedding lists can be set up as far in advance as
you wish, and can be left "active" after the wedding if you wish. Only one thing that annoyed us was that when we compiled our list it was the beginning of the sale, and some items that we wanted were going to be discontinued after the sale, so i would advise is to do your list after the sales. we found the service they offered exceptional, and we have recommended it to friends who are also getting married, they were also so impressed by them, that they too no have their wedding list at Debenhams.

- 14/08/01 Only advantage is that they are everywhere. We find Debenhams expensive for decent quality goods.
In Edinburgh Johns Lewis & Jenners are better. |
