DixonsNewest Review: ... brands, like Samsung and Panasonic. Usually you can expect to get high quality from these models so it's a safe bet buying from Dixons, instead of Novatech or other own-brand technology. They had a 50" Samsung for only £700 over Christmas which was a pretty good deal if you were looking for a 720p model. Like Currys and PC World, their warranty system is not very good and they should really sort that out. Even returning an item seemed like a massive deal when my wireless adaptor broke. I would recommend buying products from their website if you want to return them easily and sometimes the prices are a little lower.... more |

all i wanted was a washing machine delivered and installed- so ordered from dixons as they promised to do that... 2 weeks later after the orginal delivery/install date and many phone calls- yes my wash mac finally installed- but only because there happened to be another plumber there at the time sent by the landlord to do the gas safety check if it had been left to dixons installer i'd still be waiting.
i ordered thinking how bad can it be (having cancelled my previous dixons order for a vacuum cleaner which didn't arrived for three weeks....) but in retrospect should have ordered a washing machine from a good company (e.g. my neighbours argos delivery arrived promptly with courteous drivers) and perhaps booked a local plumber to install the washing machine- say one who would actually come when they said they would and then installed it?!

Dixons are offering a Sony Bravia KDL26S5500 for £357-99; too good an offer to miss!
Ordered at 14-33 on 07/09/09, then read Dixons reviews and panicked.
E-Mail at 21-47 on 09/09/09 saying T.V. had been dispatched, would be delivered next day by DHL between 9-00am and 5-00pm; parcel tracking number supplied.
Delivered 10-19 on 10/09/09.
Panic. What panic?
Brilliant service by both Dixons and DHL.

Dixons is an electrical store selling numerous goods such as TVs, audio equipment, games consoles, dishwashers and more. It has usually been like Currys and PC World in the way that their prices are quite high but recently they have lowered them and are becoming more competitive, especially online and in the video game department. Their games and accessories are fairly cheap now and much better than in Currys. Hopefully the others follow suit. Their laptops and TVs are also reasonably priced and you can get a good offer for top brands, like Samsung and Panasonic. I see varying reviews on Dixons and having just bought a Sony Bravia KDL40W5500U, I thought I would add my experience of them too. It is staggering how much this set varies in price, From well over £1000 to significantly lower. The lower prices however come usually, from strictly Internet based firms and very few of them with good reviews on delivery and after sales assistance. When I lookedat the High street stores online, they normally had the highest prices and so I was amazed to find that Dixons online had one of the lowest prices I had seen ( using the discount code available at the time of TV5...5% off ) and in addition...free delivery. ... I shopped on line for a new under counter refridgerator with an ice box. Dixons site was not much use in identifying an appropriate appliance - I did that on other sites, but once identified, the make and model was easy to find. Price point is competitive, collection of old appliance for a small fee, very good. Communications and keeping me upto date, very good - although the whole process is quite slow. They confirmed my order, stock level, payment, delivery date and gave a number to confirm the delivery slot. Half an hour before the end of the slot the driver telephoned to say he was too busy and not coming (and proceeded to tell me how he had told his manager and they ... Read the complete review
