      I got away lucky.

£800 laptop left in our recycling bin. Not really a reassuring service. Also, customer service email (customer.services@dixons.co.uk) is an unmonitored account and the order tracking service is non existent. Would the option have been possible I would have paid for a known/reliable carrier. The email confirmation of the order just said "Your products will be delivered to you". I was hoping some indication of when, how etc... The 08445611111 telephone number number explicitly states that they will contact you with these details.
Basically if you are ordering from www.Dixons.co.uk you can only expect that your goods are dumped inappropriately on your property. What is particularly worrying is that in the area where I live I was surprised that someone hadn't seen it being stashed and stolen it! God knows what would happen if I that had ocoured. Unless you are at home 24/7 you are taking a very large risk.

Dont buy, as what you get is different to what you were expecting

Dixons is part of the DSG group, that owns currey's and PC world. However they are an online only company, with the intention of undercutting there competitors.

A warning- Dixons often appear to undercut their competitors, when almost like for like products such as branded TV's are compared against the Curry and pcworld stores! However, these are "special" models, which have small cuts made to their specifications, so that they can be sold cheaper than the near specification models that are more openly sold on the market. I found this out to my dislike when I purchased a TV that I had compared to an almost identifical model in the shop. The sound and picture quality were awful and did not at all match up to the instore quality! So I sent it straight back and what a hastle that was! It took forever to get a returns number and the items picked up.

Secondly they try sell through persusaive and constant online marketing warranties that never live up to the hype. Customer service is very poor and overall I am not a happy bunny!

Shop around online through price comparison sites to pick up a real bargain!

They lie you in to buying a warranty, try avoiding repairs/replacements

I recently phoned Mastercare to apply for the extended warranty for the TV that I purchased from Dixons, after successfully completing the agreement I was offered an extended warranty for my fridge/freezer by the sales representative for just £15 per year.

The sales representative tried her best to convince me that the extended warranty is good and will cover everything from general ware and tear to accidental damage, and she specifically mentioned that all the shelves will be covered and if they broke in any way they would be replaced.

Anyway as I have an integrated fridge and freezer which are built in to my kitchen units I decided to opt for the extended warranty for my fridge as I thought it is used more and the shelves will probably need replacing in the future as I have kids and the shelves tend to brake after a while...

After a few months my shelve in the fridge broke so I decided to call Mastercare for a replacement. The first time I called the customer services, the representative said that he couldn't find the model number of my fridge (Whirlpool/Prima make) and told me to call the manufacturer, purchase the parts and post the receipt to Mastercare for a refund of the costs, I thought ok! I'll do that, so I called the manufacturer and asked for the parts etc... but I did not order anything yet as I wanted to confirm everything from Mastercare first... So I phoned Mastercare again and asked the representative if I buy the parts will I be refunded and if so to what address do I need to post the receipt...

Guess what this representative asked for the model number, he spoke to his manager and said that we do not support your fridge and that the cover is cancelled, I then told him that the person who sold me the warranty said that this model is covered in the agreement, he then spoke to his manager... and asked for the model number he then found the fridge on his database and said the parts are available... I then asked when will you be posting them? he then told me to wait and spoke to his manager again and suddenly said sorry we don't cover this model!

I then told him that YOU just mentioned that you have the parts in stock!!! He then mumbled and said that your agreement is £15 and the parts cost £60 and therefore it's not worth it.

Mastercare simply lie you in to buying the warranty and when the time comes for repairs they try their very best to cancel the agreement.

Unfortunately there isn't the facility to award zero stars to this disreputable, disorganised, phantom company, who are truly deserving of such a rating. If you are even contemplating dealing with this company you would be well advised to think again. If you are of the belief you have secured a product at a reasonable price from them, rest assured the reality of dealing with Dixons will soon send your blood pressure skyward. DO NOT TOUCH THEM WITH A BARGE POLE.

When I get my refund, I will not spend it in DSG.

Got good bargain plasma TV. After 4 months it had a fault. Dixons came to repair it. Noted the fault and took TV away to repair centre. Got TV back within 10 days. No fault found. Two days later fault recurred. When moving TV fault went then came back. Dixons contacted. TV sent back to repair centre with note stating fault came and went. Back from Dixons within a two weeks. No fault found AGAIN! On unpacking TV delivery man saw that TV SCREEN CRACKED internally. Sent straight back on delivery truck. Now waiting for it to arrive at repair centre so that I can get a refund. DO NOT BUY FROM DSG. IF IT DEVELOPS A FAULT THEY HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO REPAIR IT. USELESS REPAIR CENTRE. I know what I am talking about. I used to repair electronics in the RN. I REPEAT DO NOT BUY FROM DSG. THEIR REPAIR CENTRE IS RUBBISH. Got two stars for price and initial quick delivery.

Fitters refused to disconnect or connect new dishwasher.

After my old dishwasher gave up the ghost during the week I shopped online for a new one and ended up buying a Which recommended model from Dixons. I paid extra for the old dishwasher to be disconnected and recycled and the new one plumbed in. Ref No. 7449031626
As I was expecting family and friends for lunch on Easter Sunday I arranged delivery for Saturday.
After waiting in all pm (missed sister-in-law's birthday lunch) when the fitters finally arrived (5pm) they refused to disconnect (or remove) the old machine or connect the new one stipulating that we had an extended waste pipe which they couldn't touch. When I showed them that there was no mention of this on the Dixons website they simply dismissed this as an oversight by the company!
I'll never buy from Dixons again. From now on I'll base my purchase on customer service not price!

I'm shocked they are still surviving.

This store to me seems to be stuck in the 80's in terms of design and advertising. The only thing that has changed is the stock. It sells electrical goods like computers, Dvd players/recorders, Hd tv's, audio equipment, video games as well as standard items like cameras and general accessories. The layout of most of the stores nationwide are in severe need of updating. The other thing is the prices are very expensive in relative terms to other electrical items out there. Its a woder that they are still in business. Unless you are made of money, most of the things they sell are big purchases and not necessarily implulse buys. As such most of the things you would buy from there you would spend some time considering your options before buying. Most of the things instore are available elsewhere for cheaper and the only things that don't have a like comparable elsewhere are the Matsui range of equipment.

This might sound like a scathing review but i'm frustrated because this is a store that should know better. It stubborn pricing policy preys on people who have little time to shop for such items and such their market position is strong only for this reason. I used to really enjoy this shop when I was younger because there was no alternative and you accepted the prices because of little choices elsewhere. Of late though there the model has not changed for the shop and I would not dream of shoppping there anymore unless they change their ways.

Go to Dixons if you dont mind waiting for a month for your delivery and dont expect customer service

I had ordered a LG 47LH5000 from Dixons on the 27th Dec expecting that I will have the brand new TV in 1st week of Jan. They gave me a delivery date on 4/2010 which looked very good to me.
However the delivery has been rescheduled twice already and I have been waitig still to get the delivery. They have assured they will deliver on 13/1/2010.

Every other aspect of Dixons is good - the price, the website, the information etc.
But when it comes to their home delivery they are just pathetic.
I am not sure if anyone from Dixons management actually does any consumer research. I even filled out the survey on their site.
I have to curse myself as I had read couple of bad reviews about their bad home delivery network but still thought "come on, it cant be that bad!" and ordered from here.
John Lewis and Amazon will surely cash in on this weak aspect of Dixons. Amazon here I come....

all i wanted was a washing machine delivered and installed- so ordered from dixons as they promised to do that... 2 weeks later after the orginal delivery/install date and many phone calls- yes my wash mac finally installed- but only because there happened to be another plumber there at the time sent by the landlord to do the gas safety check if it had been left to dixons installer i'd still be waiting.i ordered thinking how bad can it be (having cancelled my previous dixons order for a vacuum cleaner which didn't arrived for three weeks....) but in retrospect should have ordered a washing machine from a good company (e.g. my neighbours argos delivery arrived promptly with courteous drivers) and perhaps booked a local plumber to install the washing machine- say one who would actually come when they said they would and then installed it?!

An improvement on Currys and PC World

Dixons is an electrical store selling numerous goods such as TVs, audio equipment, games consoles, dishwashers and more. It has usually been like Currys and PC World in the way that their prices are quite high but recently they have lowered them and are becoming more competitive, especially online and in the video game department. Their games and accessories are fairly cheap now and much better than in Currys. Hopefully the others follow suit.

Their laptops and TVs are also reasonably priced and you can get a good offer for top brands, like Samsung and Panasonic. Usually you can expect to get high quality from these models so it's a safe bet buying from Dixons, instead of Novatech or other own-brand technology. They had a 50" Samsung for only £700 over Christmas which was a pretty good deal if you were looking for a 720p model.

Like Currys and PC World, their warranty system is not very good and they should really sort that out. Even returning an item seemed like a massive deal when my wireless adaptor broke. I would recommend buying products from their website if you want to return them easily and sometimes the prices are a little lower.

          Couldnt ask for more

I see varying reviews on Dixons and having just bought a Sony Bravia KDL40W5500U, I thought I would add my experience of them too.

It is staggering how much this set varies in price, From well over £1000 to significantly lower.

The lower prices however come usually, from strictly Internet based firms and very few of them with good reviews on delivery and after sales assistance.
When I lookedat the High street stores online, they normally had the highest prices and so I was amazed to find that Dixons online had one of the lowest prices I had seen ( using the discount code available at the time of TV5...5% off ) and in addition...free delivery. This made the set £822 a difference of around £200 compared to most other hight street retailers

Once added to the basket at their website, it immediately checks for availability in the region and gives options of the days most convenient to you. Having chosen the day, an e-mail arrives giving a reference number, which when transferred to their tracking page ( link in e-mail ) confirms the day and a four hour window during that day. On the day, you receive a phone call from the delivery man 30 mins before his ETA

I could not be more impressed with the organisation and courtesy of the firm......which gave me the peace of mind needed when you are buying a high value item.

          The TV is excellent too

Avoid. If in doubt, Avoid. Go elsewhere. Avoid. Clear enough.

I shopped on line for a new under counter refridgerator with an ice box. Dixons site was not much use in identifying an appropriate appliance - I did that on other sites, but once identified, the make and model was easy to find. Price point is competitive, collection of old appliance for a small fee, very good. Communications and keeping me upto date, very good - although the whole process is quite slow. They confirmed my order, stock level, payment, delivery date and gave a number to confirm the delivery slot. Half an hour before the end of the slot the driver telephoned to say he was too busy and not coming (and proceeded to tell me how he had told his manager and they weren't interested - so now I am the staff complaint line!). It would be another day! Undefined. I called customer service - no joy - the depot was not answering. I could have them send an email if I liked. Thanks - that's great. I also emailed myself. So half a day off work, a defrosted fridge for colection - no fridge in the meantime and still no delivery date. I think I will cancel - unable to accept delivery, appointment aborted, contract thwarted. I will pay more elsewhere and consider the premium cheap.

Not recommended. Well, I recommend you go elsewhere if you have the choice. After all, they were cheaper by only a few pounds - really the selling point was collection of the old appliance. But not coming... that is over the line of acceptable and into the realms of abuse. Shame the driver was sooooo busy - I almost feel sorry.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

            Total waste of time

I ordered a laptop for £379, desribed as 'Arctic Silver' on the website, only when it was delivered it was white. So I called Dixons to tell them I wanted to return it, 'OK, no problem' they said, did you want another laptop. 'Yes' I say, and order another one, different make, which was £369 on the website.

So I get an e-mail from customer services saying thanks for your order, and that my original laptop has been received, so the replacement is being shipped and the difference would be refunded, only the difference was £2 and not £10?!?!. I called customer service, and the guy I spoke with couldn't give a rat's ar$e, and told me there was no way they could tell me what the price was when I first said I wanted it as a replacement.

I then found another number for DSG customer service, and the person I spoke to wasn't that much more help. He basically said 'It's not up to us to prove what our website said, it's up to you', and 'If you don't want it we're not going to force you' when I said I was thinking about cancelling the order. I cancelled, then received an e-mail telling me I would be refunded the £379 I originally paid.

So far I haven't received the £379, but I have got the £2 refund, whoop de doo. When I saw that I checked the shipping info for the 2nd laptop (which I cancelled) and guess what? It's out for delivery.

Absolutely useless, and probably the worst attitude towards badly treated customers I think I've ever experienced. No joke. I am never going to buy anything from Dixons, or whoever else is part of DSG. Ever.
