Advantages: Good Range
Disadvantages: Rude Staff, Over Priced, Unknowledgable Staff
Dixons has many stores... but the store my opinion is (mainly) going to be based on is the Leamington Spa store. We frequently go to Dixons, though I don't know why, just to have a look round, and occasionally browsing comes to buying, and this is where I find the problems. We went there to buy our digital camera, so naturally asked the saleswoman for her advice... big mistake! She was rude, had an incredibly boring voice, and tended to go on for far too long. I asked her some questions about why we should purchase a docking station for the Kodak cameras should we have wanted to purchase one, and asked her what the advantages were of spending an extra £50 or so. Her answer - and I quote - "It basically means you don't have to stretch behind the back of your computer to find the cable to plug in your camera". Now, I already knew the docking stations charged the batteries, so I asked her if it did that was well (now I was just testing...). She seemed convinced they didn't... so I pointed it out to her on the box... she wouldn't believe me! On another occasion, we bought a TV and DVD/VCR package from them... this time the salesman was polite, although he wasn't too knowledgable on the easy plan payment options, so took a good 10 minutes finding out about that. So anyway, walking out of the store satisfied, we waited for the delivery on Friday... it came, but without a stand, so we 'phoned them, and they offered to search the store top-to-bottom to see if they had any - they'd 'phone back in an hour, which they did. And they couldn't find one, so they rang around the stores and found they had one in their Nuneaton store... so on Monday somebody went and fetched it for us - it was badly scratched... so we complained next time we went in... and were given two DVDs... which wasn't too bad considering the cost of them in there... but it was inconvenient! I also went there to buy a PC TV ca
rd, and they refused to sell it at the shelf price, so I went out, and came back in again half an hour later, and they sold it then at the shelf price... but it took some persuasion! All in all, I wouldn't shop in Dixons if there were any more electronics shops in the town... so there must be a real whole in the market there!
