Advantages: Good range of Merchandise, easy to find

Disadvantages: Very large stores, wear comfy shoes

With the rise in popularity of the make-over shows, more people are making their way to Focus DIY the decorating superstore, which carries everything for the weekend DIYer. The Store will generally be large and airy with the feel of a warehouse. All the merchandise is laid out in straight high aisles with different items in different aisles. Large signs above each aisle inform the customers where to look for different categories of items, like wallpapers, plumbing supplies or lighting.

The customers amble up and down the aisles looking for the perfect shade of emulsion to match their drapes or the perfect screw to hold their mirror on the wall or the perfect fitting to fix the leaking tap.

You will find a few members of staff to help you if you have a product query. Don't expect a vast knowlege of DIY, ask your grandad for that.

If you are looking for something unusual, the type of thing you see on some of the more adventurous TV makeover shows, Focus DIY is not the place to look for it. But if you are after something fairly standard you will find it here at a competitive price.

Summary: Great for DIYers but don't take the kids they'll get bored
