Advantages: great petite section, wide range of maternity clothes
Disadvantages: need to extent the petite section
After my disastrous shopping trip to George at Asda (see opinion below), I went in search of some short length trousers for winter. One of the clothes shops that I browsed in was Dorothy Perkins. I have started to shop here quite a lot recently, as I feel that the clothes are a lot more fashionable than they used to be; and the prices are reasonable too. The main reason I shop here is because of their “petite” section; which is clothes designed for shorter women. Although the selection is small, I feel that the clothes are very stylish and fit perfectly. However, yesterday I saw a pair of trousers that I liked, but they only had size 8 or 16 and not my size. I asked the shop assistant whether they had my size in the back area. She checked and said that they hadn’t, and that they wouldn’t be getting anymore in. Much to my surprise she contacted a couple of other stores locally to see if they had any in stock. Unfortunately, the other shops didn’t have any either, or otherwise the trousers would have been delivered to that store for me. Great customer service in my eyes! Today I went to the Dorothy Perkins in the Trafford Centre, which is a larger store than my local one. There was much more choice and the winter styles were very nice. Currently they have an offer on their long sleeved fitted tops – 2 for £16. These are ideal to wear with jeans, casual trousers, and can even be worn under dressy suits. I also glanced at their maternity range (not that I am planning another pregnancy yet!) and was very surprised at how much choice there was. They had lots of the latest styles of jeans and trousers with a little “bump pouch” as I call it! The range has definitely doubled since I was pregnant last year, so I highly recommend it for mums to be. The underwear section is also worth a look, as the quality is great and they have special offers on most of the time.
Also if you shop at Sainsbury’s, you can use your Reward Vouchers at Dorothy Perkins as they are worth £5.00, instead of £2.50 in-store. To sum Dorothy Perkins up – a reasonably priced clothes store that will suit everyone, whether you are tall, short, or pregnant. So why not treat yourself to something new today.

- 25/10/00 It is such a shame that Arcadia, the group which owns DP and Top Shop has decided to close 500 stores in the next year |
