Since losing weight I have become much more interested in buying clothes. Like many people I am watching what I spend and tend to avoid very expensive clothes. One of my favourite shops is Dorothy Perkins. Dorothy Perkins can be found on nearly every high street and as part of the huge Arcadia group looks set to remain!
As I have mentioned Dorothy Perkins is part of the Arcadia group the U.K's largest clothing retailer, with 2,500 branches worldwide. The Arcadia group also own Wallis, Topshop and Topman, Evans and Burton. Sir Philip Green privately owns the group. However this review is about Dorothy Perkins.
Dorothy Perkins.
**************
There can be few reading this who have not come across a branch of Dotty P's, as it is known. For any who are not familiar with the store, it is a clothing retailer that sells women's clothes and accessories. Dotty P's sells fairly low cost items and caters for women of all ages and sizes from a size 6 to a size 22. They also sell maternity clothing, clothing for petite women under 5` 3" and clothes for taller women over 5`8.
I am a fan of Dotty P's jeans as they come in a variety of styles including bootleg, skinny and flared. They are also available in different leg lengths, so you should be able to find a pair that fit well. Like other items the jeans are well priced at around £25 a pair.
Our local Dorothy Perkins is a small affair but still manages to pack in a lot of different lines and carries most sizes. At the moment they have numerous t-shirts in bright colours in addition to smarter blouses and clothes suitable for work. If your size is not available I have always found staff willing to order for you at no extra charge.
In addition to the clothing range, Dorothy Perkins stocks a range of accessories including underwear and shoes. I am not a fan of their shoes however as they do not suit my feet for some reason. I do like their jewerelly however; it is low in price and fun! At the moment they have some gorgeous necklaces in bright colours for under £10.
Even our small branch stocks a range of nightware, including slippers. Again it is reasonable priced and of good quality. I bought a pair of pyjamas a few years ago and they are still as good as near and very cosy!
Changing rooms.
***************
I actively avoid some shops just because I hate the changing rooms! Our local store has several changing rooms and you can take I as many garments as you like. However in larger stores I have noticed this is limited to 4 at a time and if you only have 3 you will be given a fourth! I do find this irritating as the clothes are all security tagged in any case. It makes me think that the store is catering for the lower end of the market! However that is a minor gripe. The staff are helpful and will find alternative sizes if you ring the bell located in your fitting room.
On the negative side, many of the changing rooms I have experienced look like they need a bit of a make over. It would be nice to have a chair, not only to rest but to try sitting down in the clothes you are trying on to see what they look when you sit!
Returns.
*******
Like many women I often change my mind. Dorothy Perkins has a 28-day returns policy and this includes sale items. I think this is very fair .I have never had any problem in returning goods for a full refund. On occasions I have returned faulty goods beyond the 28-day limit and again this has been no problem. Like all retailers you cannot return earrings unless faulty.
Other information.
*****************
I usually pay with my debit card and all major cards are accepted. Dorothy Perkins also operates its own store card. I am not sure of the actual interest rate charged but it won't be low! If you do pay with one then I would strongly advise you to pay off the balance in full every month to avoid those interest charges!
Dorothy Perkins seem to have constant sales at the moment and these are really worth looking our for. I have noticed that items are gradually reduced week by week. It can be very annoying to but a top for £25 only to find its £10 cheaper a few days later! I tend to wait for reductions unless I really fall in love with something!
Overall I recommend Dorothy Perkins. They sell reasonably priced clothes of good quality. The clothes are not exactly cutting edge but there is something for everyone!
