Advantages: Good quality, affordable clothes
Disadvantages: Not as trendy as shops such as Topshop
I find that every visit to a Dorothy Perkins store is very enjoyable. The colours are pleasant, generally most shops are tidy and welcoming, with their new trends set right at the front as an eye-catcher, and the sales are always nearby to have a browse through!
Dorothy Perkins is similar to Topshop, also part of the Arcadia group, but is a teeny bit less trendy, but definitely a lot cheaper. Dotty P's tends to sell more staple, plain items all year round, such as plain tshirts, plain trousers, simple shirts, simple skirts. They have new items in often however, which are a lot more exciting, but DPs is great to go to if you need a new shirt for work, or if you need a plain pair of jeans. They're reliable and affordable, but still great quality.
I think DPs generally attracts an older generation because they aren't as trendy as shops such as River Island, or Topshop, but I think because of this it has earned a great reputation, and this doesn't prevent younger shoppers from going in there at all, therefore I believe DPs probably has a bigger customer base than Topshop and River Island, who generally only attract young girls.
The staff are always friendly and are quite varied in age (rather than all staff looking 16 years old whereby someone older may feel a little intimidated), and actually wear a uniform so it is easy to spot them to ask for help. The fitting rooms are generally plain, but clean, tidy and private.
It's a lovely shop to buy from.
Summary: Brilliant for finding a pretty bargain
