Advantages: Price, Great Basics
Disadvantages: Not unique peices
I never used to venture into Dorothy Perkins up until a few months ago, when a friend literally dragged me kicking and screaming. Ny initial thoughts were that it was just slightly tacky and cheap compared to Topshop and it didn't have that edge of variety and quirkyness because of the ranges done by celebrities such as Kate Moss.
Dootty P's is part of the much known Arcadia group owned by Phillip Green and it comprises of Topshop, Miss Selfridge, Evans, Burtons, Wallis, BHS and Topman, which cater for literaaly every different person you could think of. I think one advantage is that a few of the peices they have in Dorothy Perkins, they have in Topshop but they are significantly cheaper but just come with a different label.
They stock the basics - jeans, tee's, vests and also seasonal wear including the latest fashions. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Dorothy Perkins works in collaboration with Gok Wan and you can really see it.
The trousers come in a range of sizes with different leg lengths which I find very good, I don't find the jeans such a good fit but I have always struggled with jeans. They also do accessoriesand some great shoes, which are good quality and good value, the jewellery in the sale goes down to even £1, so a bargin. Alot of the jewellery is stocked in the other Arcadia stores aswell.
The staff are pleasant and really helpful. If I have been looking for a particular item they are fab and they have also ordered stuff into store for me. They do offer me an account card every time where you get a 10% discount everytime you shop but I just decline this but it is their job to ask. They also accept student discount cards of 10% off.
Overall, it is great for basic peices and they do have some hidden gems, if you look regularly.
Summary: Great for basics and accessories
