Advantages: Great clothes, reasonable prices
Disadvantages: None
I have long been a fan of Dorothy Perkins - not the most glamorous name but the clothes are excellent. Whenever I've needed something to wear, be it something casual or for a special occasion, I can always rely on Dorothy Perkins to come up trumps. I had a small scare a few weeks ago when I decided to pay a visit, I found my beloved Dotty P's was now a Warner Bros. store! After a bit of detective work I found them elsewhere in the High Street, sharing premises with Burton's. Whew! When I was pregnant a few years ago I found plenty of nice maternity clothes there, nothing too frumpy either. I bought a blouse which cost £30, a bit pricey maybe but I wore it to death throughout my pregnancy and it still looked good after numerous washes. You can use Sainsbury's Reward vouchers against purchases in Dorothy Perkins - one voucher is worth £5. Until recently you could redeem as many vouchers as you wished, but when I was in there on Saturday I saw a notice saying that you had to spend £20 to redeem only one voucher. I'm not sure if it's Sainsbury's or Dorothy Perkins who have imposed this rule, but I think it's a bit mean. I will find out next time I'm there, it was too busy yesterday (sale time!) I have always found they stock a wide variety of sizes, and the trousers are in several different lengths too. They also do a very good "petite" range, which sadly I'm not - but hey, the diet starts tomorrow! UPDATE I went in to DP's yesterday and asked about the Reward vouchers. You are allowed to use one £5 voucher for every £20 you spend, so I think that's quite acceptable. I was under the impression that you could only use one voucher regardless of how much you spent.

- 15/01/01 Thanks for the information about the Sainsburys vouchers. I will update my opinion on Sainsburys.
Dotty P's have improved in recent years - they tend to stock more sensible sizes now. At one time 14 was their largest size! |
