We ordered, on line, a blanket box that was delivered on 23rd January and found to be damaged after the delivery guys left. We had, wrongly, trusted that as they had placed the item in position and unwrapped it they would have checked it, how they failed to notice what was a very obvious crushed corner to the item's lid, is beyond us. At that stage we were assured by Dunelm that the item would be replaced and after several contacts, always instigated by us, we were given a restocking date of 23rd February. On checking on 24th we were told that, yes the item was in stock but as it was a large item, delivery could take up to 10 days. This did not happen and on checking on 6th March we were given another restocking date of 20th April. It would seem to us that we were not a priority and the delivery allocated on the 23rd February had been sent to a new customer. At that time we had had enough and asked for a refund and collection of the defective item, to be told that they now wanted 'photo evidence of the damage. This was duly done and they accepted liability but refused to refund until they had made their collection. As of now we still have it and no refund. To make matters worse, we sourced a replacement from another supplier, same price, better quality and delivered in a few days. That says a lot about Dunelm.
Their customer service is non-existent and unless you make contact with them you will hear nothing.
A company to be avoided.
I have just gone back to edit because the review failed to list until I gave a star rating, I was forced therefore to give at least 1 star. Given the choice I would have given none.
Bought mattress topper from the coventry store. realised it wasnot the right size. take it back to the store and they wont accept return duo to their return policy despite that we never opened it (it doesnot have any seal anyway). the manager is very pushy salesman (probably they were burned down to the ground last year!) push for profit?
Dunelm have let me down badly. I ordered two cushions for Christmas to be delivered in Manchester. I was in plenty of time. On the 17th Dec 33 pounds was taken. I got an email to say the parcel was with a courier. When our friends did not mention the gift I got in touch with Dunelm and was told there was a problem with the post code - NOT TRUE. Now I find the cushions are half price. Stick to Amazon or M&S !!!
I do the basis of my shopping online now, as having 2 little ones I find it awkward go get around the shops without them running off, fighting or needing the toilet... We recently ordered some items for our home and I wanted to tell you all about the decent experience we've had.
Dunelm Mill was founded in 1979 and was originally known as Dunelm Soft Furniture ltd. It is a British based furnishing company and has over 100 stores nationwide. I've only known of the brand for roughly 2 years as this is how long the local store has been open. They sell a huge variety of items for the home, including bedding, curtains, furniture, art and craft supplies, cookware, fabric off the roll and they also offer a blind and curtain making service. Their products are available both in store and online, with either a click and reserve option or a home delivery option.
The mobile site I find difficult to navigate, so I always try and use the desktop site. The sections are set out well and there is no difficulty in finding items. There is always the search tool should you find you are unable to locate what you need. Payment is taken online for home delivery, or instore for ring and reserve. We payed for our online order via PayPal and it was painless!
We wanted to order 2 sets of curtains, some lampshades and a couple of teddy bear throws, all but one set of curtains was available for home delivery. I ordered this then proceeded to ring customer services about this other set of curtains, the customer service advisor was extremely helpful, and let me know that although my nearest store didn't have stock they'd be able to set up a move order to my local store and let me know when they were available. We had a call on the Sunday to reiterate that they were to be sent to store for the Wednesday. We were then called again to say the curtains were ready. We payed and picked them up, this was also pretty fuss free.
Our delivery items were sent within 2 working days via Yodel, we were text to what day the courier would be out for delivery. The items arrived very well packed and delivered on the day they were expected.
We ordered from Dunelm, as although we love great quality items we also have two little tear aways, so didn't want anything we'd be too precious about. The curtains (green regan leaf print) are good quality although I felt the lining could have been thicker. The teddy bear throws are just a little bit of heaven, although they lose fluff. And the lampshade... Well they are still hanging!
Dunelm is a decent quality, cheap alternative to places such as Ikea. We found both the delivery and instore experience to be fantastic, and a huge bonus for us that they take PayPal - brilliant if you have money floating in there from eBay selling for example. The decent customer service is huge hit with me and will have me shopping in there again for sure. I would highly recommend a look around their shop or website... You'll probably leave with things you didn't go in for!
Order number6359676. Just a word of advice to anyone thinking of making a online purchase, make sure you really want the item ordered ,because to return it its absolute hell ! I ordered an item three weeks ago, it was not suitable. So phoned dunelm to arrange a returns, given an order no and collection date, three weeks later and after six phone calls three emails I still have the parcel, what a shambles!!!! First and last time I will place an order with this company! Not worth the HASSLE.
Excellent customer service from the staff Bernie and Jeanette in the bedding dept. There were no double falt sheets on the shelves in chocolate brown, there had just been a delivery and they sorted through it to find one for me saving me a trip back to the shop. I continued to browse the store while I waited so naturally spent more! Good value for money and plenty of choice.Very pleasant ladies, nothing seeme too much trouble etc. Good discussion about bedding and styles too.Thank you.C. Kemp
i have used dunelm mill in edinburgh for years with never a complaint and was delighted when i found they had opened a store in my home town of falkirk.unfortunately,that delight has now turned to anger and disappointment! in the last 3 months i have spent in excess of £1500 in this store buying bedding,furniture,soft furnishings etc and decided to buy made to measure curtains for my lounge.BIG MISTAKE!!! curtains were ordered 18th january .the staff member who dealt with my order was obviously new and not very experienced in dealing with the orders,though trying her very best to be thorough and to get the order right.i gave exact window sizes and explained that i wished the curtains to be pleated with button tops (showing her a display they had of exactly that) and that i wanted them to be very full so each curtain had to be 1.5 metres in width.this was duly noted and i signed the order and eagerly awaited my new curtains.4 weeks later i went to collect them to find the buttons had not been put on,so back they went and i was dismayed to learn i would have to wait ANOTHER 4 weeks for them to sew 14 buttons on.however,i liked them so much i decided to wait.4 weeks . then i received a phone call saying they were having a problem with flaws in the material and if i would wait another week,i would receive 30% discount for what had been unsatisfactory service on their part.i reluctantly agreed and one week later i was told my curtains had arrived and went to uplift them(3rd visit to do so).when i received the promised discount it was in fact only 10% as they stated i had received 20% discount as a promotion on paying for them 9 weeks previously-onward and upward i thought,just wanted to get the damn things up at long last..........NOT TO BE!!! on opening the packaging i discovered the curtains were a full half metre short in width and were not wide enough to close over the window.LIVID doesn't come close to how i feel today on the 22nd of march.we are having a family party in less than 2 weeks and there is not enough time for me to have curtains made elsewhere.i will never use this store again. ps i've given a one star rating simply because the review won't be accepted unless you do.actually the rating is a big fat ZERO!
I was made to wait when returning cushion covers that were sized larger than they actually were with the intention of buying more - however the returns counter also had paying customers and the one in front of me had numerous items, enough to furnish a whole house , with the assistant wrapping everything individually - there was one other till open with a queue also. An assistant was actually arranging stock around my feet at the front of the counter and when I asked if she could help, she just shrugged her shoulders and said there was nothing she could do. When I said I would like to see the manager, another assitant appeared to do the wrapping without saying a word of apology etc for the long wait. Not a pleasant shopping experience.
local store (Eastbourne) the staff are always very friendly and attentive. The store sells everything bedding, curtains, rugs, kitchen items, fabric, lighting, pictures mirrors and more.
I find you can always find a bargain they almost always have sales on. Some products can be overpriced but this is quite rare generally items are very reasonable and good quality. On my last visit I was after a bedspread I had seen online. Unfortunately they did not have the size I was after in stock however they offered to order it in for me.
I was told it will take a week as long as there suppliers were not out of stock, and that they would ring me when the bedspread arrived. True to there word I received a phone call the following week saying my bedspread had arrived.
When going to collect it there was a bit of a queue at customer services but once greeted they were very friendly and polite.
Once I got the product home I was really happy with it and felt It was worth the money as it has completely changed the look of my room!
Overall I have visited this store about 10 times and not had one bad experience, would defiantly recommend for an enjoyable shopping experience, and a bargin.
I have shopped many times at Dunelm & always been more than happy with the goods I bought, normally very good value for money. The staff don't seem to enjoy working there very much & can be a bit funny but compared to the choice of stuff & the range of value deals in there not a problem. My big mistake was we moved... I can no longer drive so have to rely on my OH to take me everywhere & I got impatient for stuff for the new house. Brain wave I thought I will order it on line! I sat down for some time ordering various items, roller blinds (off the shelf NOT made to measure) which I could find nowhere else & really keen prices, bath mats, chopping boards, bedlinen, a thermos flask, some habadashery, a corner linen bin £10 cheaper than homebase, air freshners etc. I finally got to check out & the total came to nearly £500. I went through the checkout process & was then told 50% of the items were not in stock. So I proceeded thinking I would at least get my blinds & my linen bin & a few other bits. Delivery dates were given to me which were a little bit longer than I expected. I ordered on the 5th October & was given dates of the 12th 14th & 17th, a tad longer than 3 to 5 days promised but I thought I would put up with that. Rather inconvenient if you work having to wait or make arrangements for 3 different days but that does not apply to me. Next I got an email to say the linen bin should never have been available for home delivery & saying I would get a voucher for 20% off my next order after delivery or cancellation of this order. I waited for my delivery & eventually emailed them. Just an automated response. I phoned & after holding for 30 mins I spoke to a lovely chap who told me they had a problem with their computer, they were working night & day to solve it but meanwhile my order was trapped inside it & they had absolutely no way of accessing it to fulfill it!! Well its now the 1st of November, I have received 25% off this order from customer services but the promised delivery dates are from the 17th November on. CONCLUSION buy instore by all means they sell lovely stuff, budget through to luxury BUT FORGET THE ONLINE SERVICE they do not contact you to update you, it is always up to you to make contact & if I get my stuff by Christmas I will be very suprised
Dunelm mill is a store selling mainly bedding and curtains and other soft furnishings but also stock kitchen things like dinner sets cooking utensils, cleaning equipment, rugs, mats, lighting and bathroom accessories.
I have found dunelm has dipped dramatically in quality. I bought a student bed set back in 2003 and it was fab it washed and washed and then i bought another bed set again it washed and washed. But most recently i have bought 2 bedding sets, one of which was returned as the seam at the top of the bedding was half split. The second set which has an embelishment looks really scruffy after a couple of months.
The service is good there but i often find there are long queues/waits for service. I have never had any curtains made but i have had curtains from there which have been very thin. Admittedly i bought unlined ones but they are really thin. The towels i bought from there back in 2007 have washed well but i wonder if this would still be the case as i mentioned i feel the quality has dropped with the bedding.
Dunelm is however a good store for picking up the off kitchen bits you want as they stock baking equipment and most cooking bits and pieces you would need. They also have different things unusual to other stores.
I have also found the prices are quite dear now they have increased, even more so than other stores have increased their prices. They used to be really good value but that doesnt appear to be the case so much anymore. I went to buy a plain black quilt cover and was shocked it was 24.99 just for the quilt cover for plain black cotton. It used to be about 17.99
Ten weeks after I ordered my curtains they are still not here. I have spent a lot of time speaking to an answerphone or being fobbed off. The staff apparently can't make bookings because the diary is down, the person they need to speak to is not here, in a meeting or on holiday and, most recently, the person they need to speak to has just returned from holiday (make of that what you will). Disastrous.
During its January sale, the store in St Albans was offering a two-week curtain making service. As I needed five pairs and a roman blind I placed an order using the At Home option to ensure the measurements were right. I heard nothing for weeks, the level of communication was been abysmal, and I finally had to chase up the order. I wish I'd seen the entries on this site first.
But I still have no curtains
ordered 5 mattress covers , paid for next day delivery service , phoned to ask what was going on with my order ,was told that they would sort it out , got my order 1 week later, and they said that they would send me my postage back that i had paid £5.95 , so 2 weeks later, and 6 phone calls to them i was finally given my postage back , if i hadent phoned i would still be waiting , why say that you can get next day delivery and not deliver as promised, will not buy from them again.
Wish I had read the reviews first. My experience similar to other customers. I paid up front for made to measure custains for 2 odd-sized windows costing nearly £700.Firstly- my on-line account never had a record of my order so I could not track it.Then I was told 3 times that it was possible to add extra tie- backs which I had forgotten - not possible in the end.The crowning glory was my curtains being delivered to a different address 2 miles away 10 days before Cristmas and then becoming untrackable by Dunelm.Now have no curtains before Christmas. No offer of anything to help.
Despite being a woman I don't like shopping. As occasionally it is inevitable I prefer doing it online. Last time I wanted to buy bed linen I visited Dunelm Mill's website and ordered a nice bed linen which was up to all my expectations.

What do they sell?
Well, almost everything that you need in your house to make it home. I will go through their products according to where they belong, not as they are on the website.
They sell bed frames, mattresses, duvets, pillows, bed linen, children's bed linen, curtains, blinds, storage boxes and small furniture, lamps. I guess this is not the complete list but as you can see the product range is really large. I spent some time on checking their bed linen because the range they sell is large and they are really beautiful. There is a luxury collection range that is called Dorma and there are some beautiful collections indeed. The price of this range is quite expensive in my opinion. Just an example, a double size duvet cover is for 59.99 pounds. I admit it is beautiful but expensive. The other range they offer is more affordable and there are some really nice sets. I have chosen a red one as I like warm colours in my bedroom.
The bathroom collection consists of towels, bath robes, bath mats, bathroom furniture, laundry hampers, shower curtains, bathroom scales and beauty accessories. The invigorate exfoliating gloves (99 pence) are wonderful and I really love them. I haven't tried anything else from their bathroom range but would consider as they look really nice.
This is maybe the largest section as they offer all kinds of textiles to the kitchen and dining room, dishes, cutlery, electric machines, literally everything you need in the kitchen. I'm out now for some linen kitchen tea towels at my next order. I checked their dinner sets as well but I wasn't very impressed. When my younger one helped to pack out the dishwasher two plates ended broken... Still have enough plates for 4 of us but not for guests. I think I will shop around for some more exciting offers. The prices vary on the site, there are cheep and expensive products too.
Over the above mentioned things they sell all kinds of decoration to make your home individual and comfortable. I think it is good that they have such a large scale of products as you can buy what you need from one place if fits your taste.
Shopping online has its benefits for me. I love that I don't have to go anywhere and take with me the kids who are obviously not interested in my bed linen shopping around tour. It is true that I don't see the products as they are but the pictures on the webpage are quite good, I can zoom on them and this plus the description gives almost as many info as I can pick up with two preschoolers in a store.

For example I found the bed linen I was dreaming about (and now not only dreaming about but sleeping on it) under Bedding/Bedlinen collection. When I took a look in detail on all of them I have chosen a red one. Below the picture on the bed linen there was a choice of the available pieces. I could choose from Oxford and housewife types of pillow cases. There was a chance to choose colour, size and quantity however the set was available only in one colour. I guess some sets are available in multiple sizes and colours. As soon as I have chosen the size and colour the price became visible. I could add it to the basket. At the checkout I could decide whether I want to register or just give the details for that special order. The company doesn't pay cashback at the moment. There are 3 delivery options: collect from a store for free, 5-7 working days home delivery for 3.95 pounds or next day home delivery for 5.95 pounds. They accept a wide variety of cards so paying is quick and easy.
As I mentioned previously there are 3 options. I couldn't choose the free collection as the closest shop is at least 2 hours drive from us so home delivery seemed cheaper and more comfortable option. I have chosen the 5-7 working days option and it was delivered on the 7th day. They sent me an email that my parcel will arrive that day between 12.00 and 15.00 and the courier arrived within that interval indeed.
The returns are free on all orders. Luckily my order was high above my expectations so I won't return anything.
I read the instructions carefully so I had an expectation but I was positively surprised after opening the bed linen. The products were well wrapped in waterproof plastic bag. The bed linen itself looked even better than I thought and I really like the touch of it, the vibrant colour and the quality of it, the details of the décor on it. It is really nice and I am completely happy with it.

I like a lot the great variety of products Dunelm Mill offers especially as the products can be ordered from the comfort of my home. The product range varies in price as well so you can find cheaper and expensive products as well. Navigating through the webpage was easy and the pictures were reliable, so the products I received look really like on the picture, the details however are not visible on the picture and add a lot to the experience.
I thought the delivery will be faster but it wasn't urgent so I had no problem with it. The price of the products was charged on my account only a week after the actual order.
I think it is worth looking around if you are out for some ideas in your home.
