Advantages: Good value products
Disadvantages: Aisles can be small and overstocked
I first started shopping in Dunelm Mill approximately five years ago when I purchased my first home. They sell a wide range of products for all the rooms in your house and they often have fantastic deals on a selection of stock, whether this be when they are introducing a product to the store or whether it is one of their clearance lines.
Along with ikea, this is probably one of my favourite homeware stores and throughout the years I would say that I have furnished approximately 40% of my home from this shop. My local store is in Chester, located on the Chester Greyhound Retail Park. It is on two levels and there is a lift for easy access between floors. There is a small selection of trolleys outside the store which are very useful, however some of the aisles are very close together and can be quite cluttered making navigation with a trolley quite difficult.
In my store duvet covers, curtains, quilts, pillows and special offers are located downstairs and cushions, lighting, rugs, kitchenware and accessories are located on the upper floor. It is the upstairs floor which can be very difficult to get around with a trolley due to there being so many breakables crammed onto shelves, so I personally don't risk it, as with also having two toddlers in tow, I think this would be asking for trouble.
Whilst this is one of my favourite stores, it does have its problems too. I recently went to the store to purchase some pink heart wallart which I had seen on their website for my daughters rooms. There were approximately five of them available on the shelf all of them were damaged, every single one. I brought this to a member of staffs attention, they apologised and advised that they would order some more in and told me to come back in a weeks time. I did go back the following Sunday and the same five broken items were still on the shelf. This time I brought it to the attention of the manager who personally removed them from the shelf and advised she would order some more for me and contact me when they came in to the store. She contacted me a week later to confirm that they were now available. Problem solved, but it was an uneccessary inconvenience when the problem should have been resolved first time round.
The store is now also available online, however I have only used this once as I ordered some ceramic dog bowls and candleware and everything arrived broken. Probably more of a courier error than the stores fault, but it still put me off using them again.
Overall it is a great store for all your home adornment needs. I love their selection of duvet covers as they often sell the entire matching sets including throws, cushions, curtains and valance sheets which are all gorgeous even if they are slightly pricey. The majority of products are well priced however and I would definitely recommend this store.
Summary: Great store for purchases for your home.
