Advantages: Good quality, value for money, well laid out store
Disadvantages: Small carpark at local store
Dunelm is one of those shops I absolutely love (and my boyfriend hates), it's also one of those shops where I really have to limit my visits to.
I can go in for a wander round and if I'm not careful I could bankrupt myself, yeah I know I didn't need that pink laundry basket... but look it's pink and it's a limited edition and did I mention it's pink?
For those who don't know, Dunelm or to give it it's correct name Dunelm Mill is a home furnishings shop. The main products are home textiles - curtains, bedding, towels etc... and most larger stores sell homewares too such as tableware, kitchenware and lighting, as well as gifts.
There is also a curtain making service, where you can choose your fabric and they will make made to measure curtains. I have never needed to use this service, but I have seen some in store and they do look like really well made, quality curtains.
Inside my local store (Scunthorpe) everything is neatly set out into different sections, bedding, towels, curtains, lighting and homewares. When you go into each section they are then set out according to colour so it is really easy to see what you are looking for.
The staff have always been more than happy to help when I've not been able to find something in particular. I'd found a bedding set I liked but couldn't see it in double size, so Customer Services checked whether it could be ordered in but it was a sale item so there was no other stock available.
There is also a coffee shop in the store, should you need refreshments while browsing.
The carpark is a little on the small side, but there is a huge carpark across the road.
The homewares and gifts section of the shop is my real downfall, there is always a nice variety of stock and I love browsing (and spending) here. I love buying little things for my kitchen whether I need them or not, and Dunelm has enough to feed my addiction.
When my boyfriend and I were setting up our first home, we got our living room curtains from Dunelm and they still look as good as they did when we first put them up three years later.
As we have decorated over the years Dunelm has been the shop we have returned to for it's quality and good value.
The store also has a website where you can order online with a choice of delivery options, you can order and have it delivered to your nearest store for free, standard delivery is £3.95 (5 days) and next delivery (order before midday) is £5.95 (these prices are for standard sized items).
If you buy online it has the Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode 3D Secure shopping for safer online shopping. They are also an acredited retailer of "Internet Shopping is Safe".
There is also a store locator on the site.
If you know of anyone setting up their first home or getting married, I'd recommend getting them a Dunelm gift voucher, they're sure to make good use of it.
So far I've only had pleasant experiences in Dunelm and I've been there a few times in the last few years. If that changes for any reason, I'll update my review accordingly.
All in all I've found the staff to be helpful, there are hardly ever any big queues and the people working on the checkout are always friendly and polite. The store is well laid out and most things are easy to find.
Thanks for reading.
Summary: well worth taking a look round
