Good selection of styles particularly for the more mature woman (East)

Advantages: Similar clothing style to Monsoon

Disadvantages: Pricey

One winter I was looking for an outfit to wear to a winter wedding. My outfit could be any colour but as I don't like wearing black to weddings I decided it shouldn't not be black.

I told my best friend about my difficulty in finding an outfit to wear to a wedding that was not black and she told her mother. Her mother was shopping and discovered some skirts in East that she thought would suit me and where on sale, so she rang me up.

Finally after 3 years of walking past the shop I went into East and purchased something.

The reason for walking past East for so long was:
1. I was 25. East's window display showed dummies wearing outfits that seemed to suit women who were much older than me.
2. The prices in the window were out of my budget. I don't normally spend £100 on a skirt.


Layout-
Going into the East store remainded me of being in a Monsoon store as the clothes are of a similar style. What is different is that whilst the smaller Monsoon stores seem over packed with clothes East puts less clothes on display to make the store seem bigger and make it easier to move around. However there is another range of clothes on the rails so you have a selection to look at. The East Store I frequent normally has a corner called the sale corner where reduced priced items are placed at all times of year. At the summer and winter sale times this Sale area is moved into the middle of the store.

The changing rooms have good lighting and mirrors so the item you buy looks like the same colour in the store as outside in natural daylight.

Staff-
The staff are friendly and helpful and the ages of the staff seem to reflect the age of the customers the store wants to attract i.e. over 35 females.


Quality of clothes-
The skirt I brought was silk so it requires dry cleaning or hand washing. The quality and cut of the skirt was good.

Price-
East is not a cheap store. The majority of their clothes are over £60 an item. On the sale rail you can get cheaper priced items so for example you can get a £60 item for £20.

Summary-
East is retailer whose clothing has a similar style to Monsoon. It is an expensive shop aimed at women over 35 and the quality of the clothing is good.
