I recently tried to purchase a washing machine from the mail order catalogue - Empire. After I placed my order I was informed that delivery would be about 4-6 weeks as the product was not due to leave the warehouse until the middle of February!! Who can go without a washing machine until the middle of February?
Well I was then infrormed that for a charge of £20.00 I could have it within 48 hours!

I reluctantly agreed only because I really need it. But how can the sum of £20.00 make the product suddenly able to leave the warehouse? I think that this practise is very wrong. I am tempted to cancel the order and buy another one from a store in town.

What do others' think of this for a delivery service. Four to six weeks for a washing machine isn't much of a service at all, unless you're willing to pay extra.

I since cancelled my order and bought one from Comet online. But that is another opinion.
