Do not go here!! I had to view the new corsa after they were "unable" to provide monthly payment estimates over the phone and wanted to "present" the figures to me. Their website still advertises 1year free insurance yet they were adamant this was no longer available despite showing them it still advertised. After 3 hours I was finally given price estimate to which the sales man Roberto said all that's left to do is get a receipt for my deposit - after repeatedly saying I was there for price information!! Before I left he had the cheek to ask if I would sign some documents for the quote!! I was absolutely horrified that after repeatedly saying I was there for quotes he was trying to take a deposit and get me to sign documents!! His attempt at hard selling was disgraceful and clearly predatory as I was a young looking female there with my child. I was asked 7 times about giving them my old car and asked 3 times to bring my car to let them value it - needless to say I parked down the road as he mentioned it so many times on the phone prior to arriving I was suspicious straight away - he was more interested in getting hold of my old car than selling me a new one!! The receptionist was rude and obnoxious and the sleaze in the suit roberto had no idea what the air bags in the rear of the car were for. I would never purchase a car from here!!
Bunch of con artists, with absolutely no Customer Service skills or integrity. Unless you are taking their finance deals they are not interested.
They mde the car buying process very stressful and expensive ( lost £200 getting a vehicle transferred from one branch to another) only for the deal to fall apart when I wouldn't take their finance.
If there was an option to rate 0 I would have.
I purchased a Volkswagen Polo from the Blackburn Ford dealership, and after just 5 days I'm sick of being let down and mocked by Evans Halshaw. They failed to paint in the chips, fix the windscreen, clean the car and check the features on the car worked, but once paying for the car and further expection at home, the chips had been painted the wrong colour, the windscreen was deemed unsafe, the car was full of rubbish including the previous owners bank statements, and it seemed to me they had put no effort in to supplying a quality product to the customer. After them agreeing to fix all these issues through email, they are now only agreeing to clean it and fix the faulty stereo.
Then after just four days of owning the car I found another issue, this is that they had given me cloned keys that looked cheap and tacky as well as not working properly on the car. Once entering the dealership to tell them my latest issue with the car, they all stood around and mocked me, laughing at my problems. I was then told that I was just picking faults by the salesman who had been drunk from the night before during my first test drive of the car, I wonder if he told his manager about that?
I would recommend buying from anywhere but here, this is the worst customer service I have ever received and I'm disgusted in the way they have treated me.
I tried reserving a car from Evans Halsaw at Preston. We phoned up as soon as they opened and spoke to one of their sales people. They took all our details and said the car in question was still for sale and he would get back to us in around 20 mins. Four hour later and two phone calls to them we were told the car had been sold. The previous day we had been to another Evans Halshaw dealer to look at another one of their cars only the sale person couldn't find it !!!!! There was a space where it should have been but he didn't know where it had gone. This lot seem to be a bit of a joke and if anyone is ever thinking of just turning up to view one of their cars I would recommend you ring in advance and make sure they haven't lost or sold it.
I found a car on auto trader from Evans Halshaw in Worfiled, near Wolverhampton.
I spoke with Spencer who was very nice and chatty, he told me all about the car but played a bit dumb when i asked specific questions, his answers ranged from "oh I will have to check" and "I'm not really sure about that but our techie guys will know". Not what you would expect from a car dealer. But he seemed a nice guy none the less.
I paid a £100 deposit to hold the car, as I lived 98 miles away and could not get there until the Saturday. So we drove to my brothers house, who was slightly closer on the friday night and left bright and early saturday morning to get to the garage, reason being that if I wanted the car I needed to go and buy tax before 12 pm as post offices close.
So we get to the garage, look around the car, and I take it for a test drive. It was a clean and nice car, I was seriously going to buy it, I would not have wasted my time and money getting there if i was not serious. So we inspect the car, everything looks ok, so we go inside to have a chat about the price.
Due to their price guarantee they do not haggle on price a lot. So I thought best to check over all paperwork thoroughly before committing myself to spending £8,000.
Which was not the price on the paperwork, they charge a £99.00 admin fee, which i had not been advised of, they had charged me for tax, they had the paperwork and cheque already drawn up, quite cocky of them in my mind, but hey that's me being petty, as i would have had to pay that anyway. But then there was a £460.00 warranty fee added as well. I told them to remove the warranty, as they are not worth the paper they are written on.
So then it came to the Service History, I asked for the book and he was "oh its in the car" thinking i would not follow that up, my husband went and retrieved the book. For a car being advertised with a Full Service History, i was quite surprised to find that the car had missed its last 3 services, as you can imagine I was not happy. They offered me £200.00 off the price of the car due to this oversight, or as Giles the manager said, "oh well people make mistakes".
Seriously I could have gone mental right there and then, there of course were apologies and all the right noises were made to try to placate me, but they had no concept of the time and money that had been spent in getting to them, and to be honest they did not care, Spencer made a disrespectful comment of " oh well at least you got to see your brother" that is totally beside the point, they cannot justify themselves with that kind of flippant remark!
So after offering me £200 off, which would not cover the cost of a VW service they refused to accept any further discussions in respect of the fact that the car was not worth what they were advertising it at, the cost would have been affected by the lack of FSH, but they have now put it up for an extra £1.00 on auto trader. Obviously omitting the FSH from the previous ad.
The Service history for a 5 year old car, with 2 VW services and recommendations to make changes in the next service, cannot simply be ignored. They claim to have carried out a service, oh at first it was that the car had been to VW for a service then it changed to we carried it out. But i have serious doubts as to whether the work were actually carried out that were listed on the invoice. I was shown a Evans Halshaw invoice for works that were carried out on the car which i know to be wrong. they claim to have changed the oil filter, and upon inspection was filthy, a car sitting in a garage for a month getting an occasional test drive would not have an oil filter in that condition unless there was something seriously wrong with the car.
They claim to have carried out full checks on the car, then why only tick the first oil service box on the service record, i was given the speel of "oh dont worry we carry out full services on all of our cars" then why were the correct boxes not ticked on the service record. Of course being a saturday they offered to forward me the details on the monday as the service department was closed. not likely!
All in all i should have run out of the door at the point i found there to be inconsistencies, but i really wanted the car, but was not going to pay a penny more than it was actually worth. so I stuck it out to haggle a bit more, but what a waste of time, they would not concede that they had over valued the car, obviously as they have increased the price, but the whole attitude was just shocking.
They seemed too well practised for my liking, and think this is their standard M.O. of dealing with customers.
I am not saying that they are all bad, but definitely check all the paper work, and if you are travelling any distance to view a car, save yourself the time, by asking all the right questions first, I did ask all the questions, but was given the wrong answers, so be insistent and ask them to double check everything. I was fobbed off without answers prior to my visit, but did not really understand it at the time. If I can help one person save time and money by reading this then I am happy.
Be careful people, these guys will pull the wool over your eyes if you let them, and once your gone its your problem!
Bought a second hand car from these jokers in Leeds immediately excessive smoke from the exhaust and the 'Emissions Workshop' warning light. Returned the car to them twice without it being fixed.On longer journeys the car would suddenly lose power.Had the car serviced at another garage and quickly spotted a blown turbo (how was this missed by Evans Halshaw?). Also other issues spotted which must have been there when I bought the car.Complained to them via letter and phone, leaving messages with no response. Complained via their website - no response. Called Evans Halshaw and eventually someone from Leeds called me, said they would look into this and call me back - no call back. Called them again two more times eventually getting a response.Zero customer service, difficult to use the guarantee bought with the car, suspect car servicing ability. Stay away from these guys.
hi i live in edinburgh and on a computer saw a renault espace i was intrested in, so paid my hundred pounds to hold it for me at eaglecliffe garage this was on monday so started finance with them on the picture seen on web. i was told every thing was good to go and i could pick up car that saturday. i aranged for cover for that day and bought train tickets aswell as transport to the main station. thursday night came and was told the car needed parts so would not be ready for pickup, i was not happy about this. i told them that my work comitments i would find it hard to get down soon. they replyed back that they could send car up to me for a price, but they spoke to there manager and could deliver the car up if i could sighn the finance paper work before it could be sent. bearing in mind that i have not set eyes on the car only pictures. only a fool will sign before inspection
of car. in the end i had no joy from them even though they agreed the car would be ready on that day. so i cancelled the agreement but told my hundred pound for holding car will be paid back to me by cheque even though i paid by card.im still waiting for it now 7 days later. NO CAR AND OUT OF POCKET ON TRAIN FARES . NOT A VERY GOOD ADVERT FOR THEM.
I bought a ford fiesta zetec (runabout) that was £3.500 from the coatbridge branch less than 8 weeks ago i have had to call the A.A out 5 times for the clutch problem. and this is the 3rd time i have taken it back to them. they treat you like you are in the wrong even tho the car clearly left there forcourt with this problem they refuse to take responsibillity or fix the car to the correct standard all they keep doing is bleeding the clutch for the slave cylinder to leak air in to the system a week later and have the same problem repeatedly. its still under the warrenty and i took the 2 years extended warrenty also. these people have no respect for the customers once you buy the car you are on your own. dont buy from these people.
Earlier this year I purchased a new Ford Ranger Lmited with a suspension mounted rear cover. I have since returned the vehicle for a full refund. The service was absolutely shocking. No one knew what anyone else was doing, they had a great deal of issue trying to retrieve and understand e-mails, they never once provided a proactive service, and eventually tried to tell me that it was me that was at fault, but the fact that they accepted the vehicel back, I think not.
At the outset there were issues. The vehicle was late, and in the lead-up to delivery I had to push hard to get updates on delivery progress, sometimes not even getting my calls returned. Now after paying £28k for the Ranger, I would class that as a very slipshod service.
Once the vehicle did arrive, I was called to collect. I made it clear on the phone that I would expect the Ranger to be fully checked over, and cleaned, ready for collection. I was assured that was the case. Well, guess what, it wasn't. There was sticky marks all over the paintwork, the wheels had some sort of black film smeared over them, the windows inside were filthy, the lock on the rear cover had not been installed correctly, they had tried to patch up a bash on the rear cover, there was a score on the front bumper, there was paint pimples all over the bodywork, there was a large paint run on one of the sills, the front doors were incorrectly hung, and to top it all, there was a large solid drip of paint or lacquer on the bottom of each of the rear doors. Now if that is not bad service, then please, someone correct me.
While I did not notice all these issues on collection, as it was raining heavily that day, and the vehicle was left outside for collection (another bad point), I did identify the other faults the next week, and the week after that, and in the weeks following. There were also issues with the engine. It sounded like a bag of nails when cold, and lacked power. I was told that this was standard, and that there may be a firmware upgrade to cure the power issue, both of which proved later to be false.
All in all, EH Coatbridge mucked me about something awful, until such times as I had to demand a full refund, which they eventually agreed to. In their words -"If it will make you happy". Very cheeky, let me say, I was far away from ever being happy with this bunch.
My advice is clear, stay away, unless you like being mucked around for a great deal of money.
Oh, one final point. One of the sales staff even said to me at one point- "It is a commercial vehicle after all". This was a few weeks after I first turned up at Coatbridge to look at the vehicles, and I was told by the sales staff that "this vehicle is designed with the family in mind, it is dual purpose, a family comfort vehicle, and a pickup". Be careful everyone, you have been warned.

LADY AT THE PARTS DESK WAS RUDE AND HORRIBLE PERSON. SORRY WE HAVE NONE IN STOCK AND TOLD ME I WOULD NEED TO ORDER AND COME BACK AGAIN. ( MEANING I WOULD HAVE TO PAY MORE FOR LABOR AND COME BACK AGAIN) LUCKY I HAD A FAMILY FRIEND WHO WAS WORKING THERE AT THE TIME , TOLD ME THEY DID IT AND HAD IT FIXED THE SAME DAY. SHOW THAT THE COMPANY TRY TO TAKE YOUR MONEY BUT GIVING MISLEADING INFORMATION.
THE PEOPLE AT THIS COMPANY ARE FORCEFUL WHEN IT COME TO SELLING CARS AND THERE OVER PRICED PRODUCTS THAT ARE NOT EVEN GOOD. MAY SEEM NICE BUT ALL THEY WANT IS TO TAKE ALL THE MONEY YOU HAVE.
THE PEOPLE AT HELP DESK ARE RUDE AND IGNORE YOU. THE PEOPLE WHO WORK FOR THIS COMPANY ARE JUDGE YOU ON THE WAY YOU LOOK, THEY TARGET PEOPLE WHO LOOK LIKE THEY HAVE MORE MONEY TO SPEND. SEEN WITH MY OWN EYES. I WAS WAITING TO SEEN BUT THEY DECIDED TO SERVE A POSH LOOKING MAN INSTEAD.
THIS COMPANY IS SUPPOSE TO BE OFFERING GREAT VAULE " EVERYDAY LOW PRICES" AND GOOD SERVICE. I FEEL LIKE I HAVE BEEN MISLEAD AGAIN.

Before purchasing the vehicle I was advised that car would be completely checked and serviced and that I could be confident with my £8000 purchase.
I have had the car for six months and this what I have got
After 6 weeks (2 weeks out their warrant) About £300 bill from my local garage after having car recovered after antiroll bar snapped. My garage informed me they spoke to vauxall and they had never heard of this happening
1 month later rear wheel bearing come out returned back to my local garage and showed me the car up on the ramp with the opposite rear wheel tyre completely bold and illegal on the inside rim. A another £300 bill.
2 months later egr valve stuck. This was removed cleaned and refitted. Again at local garage £90 bill.
2 weeks later DPF needs replacing and car in not drivable. I have not had this work done as it is an estimated £1300 bill.
Car is now sat on drive until I can afford the repairs. This car came with a 12 month MOT.
I have not raised any of this with them yet as I thought well, second hand car with only one month warranty you can expect a few minor problems. Now I am nearly at the £2000 mark only six months in I will not only be raising the issue with them but depending on their response may also seek legal advise.

Starting with my most recent experience - last week my car broke down. Breakdown Co took it to Evans Halshaw in Stockport. They didn't even look at it until yesterday (short staffed apparently), despite my phoning for updates no one called me back when promised. When they did look at it their diagnostic was same as breakdown guy - two breather pipes and battery to be replaced. But they then had to order the battery so couldn't pick it up until this morning. Long queue of people, so I had to wait 40 mins to be seen to - reckon that's longer than they actually worked on my car in the week they had it. I should have known better based on previous experience.............
Returned car to me after it's service in October 2011 without mentioning that my brake pads were badly worn _ I only knew because I always look at the paperwork before I file it. So it had to go back for the brakes to be done. Scarily I could have been driving around with duff breaks if I hadn't checked the paperwork! Granted they tried to make amends by not charging for the labour to do the brakes.
Late 2012 had a problem and car was still under warranty. They had to order parts. Never heard back from them. Having phoned a number of times they finally ordered the parts by which time my service and first MOT were due so they did the work at the same time.
Two months later the allegedly fixed part failed. Once again they had to order parts, no one phoning me back etc etc. I emailed the branch manager at that point and finally they sorted it out. Was told at that time they knew they had some problems with their service department and a new service manager had been put in place to sort it all out. It's clearly still not been sorted out so I have to assume that the place is fundamentally run badly - there were lots of other unhappy people there this morning!
Basically, there are probably not enough staff and therefore they haven't got time to care.
I had the misfortune to buy a used Vaxhaull Corsa from Evans Halshaw of Borehamwood. within weeks the bumper started to detach itself. The car was taken in for repair and the repair was absolutely amateurish, when I complained the saleman who sold it to me said that it wasn't like that when sold and they were doing me a favour by looking at it. when I complained farther he said I must have bumped it and called me a liar when I said I hadn't even though I pointed out that there were no bumps on the bumper. After three months the heater fan has packed up, I will have it repaired privately, they will probably say its wear and tear even though I purchased two year extended warranties and service agreements. My honest advice is to avoid this company like the plague.
Poor service, provided a nearly new Mondeo with no fuel to get to the nearest service station, wing mirror cover broke the same day as collection, took it back to complain, ordered the wrong part, so have to go back again, was told the day before collection car would be taxed, turned up to collect it and not done, had to wait 45 minutes.Complaints made about the fuel, wing mirror etc and offered cheap Evans Halshaw car mats in compensation. The management at Director level dismissive of the complaint, not really interested,. The sales staff were talking about our complaint, while we were in view, referring to other customers who had been treated 'badly'. Spent nearly £9,000 at this dealership, shambolic service. The place is run like Tesco, flogging cars at rock bottom prices but bad service to go with it. Never again.
