I saw a car on evans halshaw website (burnley branch) advertised as stop start and immediately went to the garage in wolverhampton to enquire.
It was a sunday afternoon when i, and my partner went to the wolverhampton branch to ask about the vehicle and was told that after telephoning the other branch, it was out on a test drive. i was asked if i wanted to look at other vehicles but told the salesman that the one i was interested in was the one i had enquired about. He gave me the telephone number for the burnley branch and told me that "if i was that interested, to ring them and go the branch myself to view it" bearing in mind it was about 100 miles away, i was flabberghasted, but went home and phoned the branch to be told that the car had not been out on a test drive at all that day, it appears that the wolverhampton garage had lied to me!
I then phoned wolverhampon and was told by another salesman that i could get the vehicle brought down for £100. if i really wanted it after it had been on forecourt of the other branch 21 days. I agreed to this. The car came down and had done more mileage than on the advert, but i took it out on a test drive and noticed that the tracking needed doing and there was no petrol in the car (red light was on), so could not take it very far, discussed the vehicle stop start and was informed how it works etc. I decided that if the vehicle could be cleaned, as it was dirty inside and the tracking was taken care of, i would purchase it at just over £7000. cash.
The day came to pick the vehicle up and i was given the keys to same (april 2012),the spare was not for my car, so only had the one key, but was promised a new one, no manual, no servicce book, and to my dismay, the car was dirty inside. The salesman said the car was not valeted and that he had had to clean it himself, i was appalled but said ok and he went off to put petrol in for me £20. I paid the monies and left with the vehicle. When i came to re-fuel i found that the cap had been left unlocked.
After a couple of weeks i still had not received the spare key, manual or service book, i telephoned wolverhampton and was told it would be sorted together with the rest of the items. Another two weeks passed and still nothing. My partner and i went into wolverhampton and were told that the sales person i had been dealing with, had conveniently left. I spoke to another who, after speaking to his boss, told me that i could not have a spare key, it should never have been promised to me. The manual would be ordered and posted out to me. This, i received a few weeks later end of June by recorded delivery, still no service book. After checking the manual, i realised that the car i had purchased was not stop start at all as it had not got the button on the dash to switch it to this function. i immediately phoned branch, sent emails for a number of weeks, spoke to a rude man at wolverhampton and was told "well what do you want?" . I am still trying to sort out this problem still in October 2012 and am seeking compensation. I have sought legal advice and am entitled to refund, replacement etc. It has been a week since i spoke with the dealer principal and am now thinking of going to local papers to air my views concerning this company, who by the way, i will never recommend to anyone as once you have purchased a car, aftercare is non-existant.
I would advise anyone who is thinking about buying from this company, to think long and hard about it as there is no customer care once you hand your money over to them. My experience has been disgusting, and am still trying to rectify their misrepresentation of my vehicle to this day.
Summary: would not recommend them to anyone buying a used vehicle
