Advantages: fab choice, great quality
Disadvantages: expensive
Evans used to be all about clothes your granny wouldn't even wear, but all of a sudden in the last maybe 5 years it has fully funked up.
Its a bit of a myth that all larger ladies want to hide in the background and not draw attention to themselves. It is sometimes difficult as a plus size woman to find clothes that don't make you feel frumpy, or ugly or like you are trying to be a size 12, honest!
But evans largely (scuse the pun!) gets it. They understand that just becasue you are more than a size 16 you don't want to look like you've rummaged through the charity bag, unless of course that is the fashion of the season.
They also get the fact that plus size women aren't all 6 foot 4, or over 50. As well as clothing they also do a great range of wider fitting shoes and boots and accessories (mmmm jewellery!) all of which have a better fitting range for larger ladies.
A downside of Evans is the fact that it is fairly pricey, not overly expensive, but still more than a "I fancy a new top for a night out" cost really, well, at least for me.
Another slight downside for me personally is that quite often the girls that work in the shops have obviously got no idea what it is like to be plus size. I know that you can't stop smaller people applying, but its frustrating from a customers point of view that the girls in the shop can't really feel where you are coming from.
Of course, we also have the website! If in doubt, wander over to the site and you can see the whole range. A good trick is to try on in store and then go onto the site, that way you don't feel the same pressure and get to go home and think about it.
I love Evans, and although I'd love to be skinnier, at the moment it lets me have a bit of retail therapy despite my size.
Summary: A great option for those of us with more to love
