Advantages: Some fashionable clothes
Disadvantages: Some frumpy clothes
Evans have come a long way in trying to update their frumpy image and it seems to be working. I stumbled into the shop when I was pregnant, frustrated by the lack of maternity wear available in my home town and looking for something that was different from the usual tent-like-tops you get in Mothercare. And boy, was I surprised. I'm not saying that some of their stuff is a bit old fashioned, but a lot of it is classy and sylish. They have a great range called "seven" which stocks fashionable clothes just in larger sizes than you'd get in other stores although to me, the point of having a backless size 26 top is a no-go! The sizes usually start at 16, although I have seen the odd item available in a 14. The best buys, I found if you're pregnant, were little cardigans that had a little tie just above the breast, which looked great over a dress as they left your bump free to stick out (you know what I mean!), and cotton shirts. The prices are on the more expensive side than what you would probably pay in somewhere like Dorothy Perkins but they are of good quality and well worth it. I'd say to anyone who was either pregnant or a size 16 or over to give it a try. The staff are friendly and you could come away with an outft that no-one would guess you'd bought from Evans.

- 09/10/00 Good idea!
just goes to show, that you dont have to stick to the maternity clothes, and you can actually be pregnant, and wear clothes that yuor friends are going to be wearing, instead of you looking like their grandma! lol |
